You definitely need VIP to read PMs and to send PMs. The person that made that comment has VIP.
As Jack mentioned there are two types of VIP. One you pay for, and it gives you full VIP priveleges. The other is the free Limited Provider VIP, which allows providers to use PMs and to read their own reviews. The limited VIP does not include the ability to read other providers' full reviews, and doesn't give full search functions of Full VIP. Any provider with a review can ask to have their reviews linked to their profile. This link also gives them the provider VIP. So any provider who posts, who has the link under their handle which says "see my reviews," has VIP. (as did the provider in that other thread who claimed she did not have VIP)

I was under the impression that VIP was needed to read PM's, but someone said (or, at the very least, strongly implied) on another board that it was not needed to read them. I would likely keep VIP anyway, but was just confused and wondering how you would read them without the upgraded membership.

Thanks in advance

Girls get basic VIP when they have a profile established and pm privileges comes with that.

If they want full VIP they have to pay (or write problem reports) in order for them to read the guys full reviews of other ladies.

you have a few alternatives.  Write reviews, submit problem reports, report a post, or pay for VIP membership.  For what you get, IMHO, it's worth it, regardless of how you get it.

I've never logged in here under a work account, so wasn't sure if providers got PM access without any form of VIP. Love full VIP too much to drop down to limited. :-0
