If you want to tell her you're married, let's say, I would wait until a second or third visit.  She really has no need to know that, she knows why you are with her, and it doesn't matter to her if your married or not.  I'm single so I can't speak for the guys in a relationship, but I think most of the hobby vets would say it's not necessary to tell her.  If you get into a situation with a provider that goes on for many visits, as I mentioned above, tell her only what you feel comfortable revealing.  If she opens up about her personal life, let that be a little guideline for you.

There are many easy, general topics you can talk about w/o getting into overly personal or overly intrusive territory.

- Local weather
- Local traffic
- Local food / restaurants
- sometimes, local sports or local politics
and if she isn't local, those topics might lead to  
- Geography
- Travel / travel screwups

Just let it flow. If she asks you a Q you don't want to answer, just try to brush it off ("What company do you work for?" "I'm here to see you, not to talk about my job.") If you let slip in a Q she doesn't want to answer, don't push it. ("So, you're a history major? Which college?" "Eh ... I'd rather not tell you where you can stalk me.")

Just try to relax and have fun.

Use an experience you had that day, or that month as a topic opener, if shes outgoing like I am, she will talk more than you and make you feel at ease. I personally travel a lot for vacation so I talk about my experiences and places I've been, and I like to know where the people I meet have been, so I can go there too. if you do get into the talk about your relationship, we don't really care about that, but we will listen to you just have fun, be passionate and don't be shy. :3
