until I trust that the guy is not going to be blowing my phone up with lots of messages. With email, I also don't have to be concerned about the time of day that I am answering messages. I am often up quite early sending emails. A certain gentleman might not appreciate a 5:00 am text when he is home with his SO. This way I don't have to keep track of each person's do not disturb hours.

I don't see anything wrong with it within reason... I mean as long as they're not trying to have long, lengthy, irrelevant conversations. I think a text that does not say "Hey." and that's it, but gets straight to the point is completely acceptable. However, I've seen a lot of girls state they will simply not accept texts. Personally, I'm ok with a text as long as the aforementioned apply and it accompanies a phone call. Am I missing something here? ...

Seems like all the NYC area gals prefer or insist on email. Virtually all shun texts entirely until the day of the session.

The OP made it sound like all providers or most providers don't accept text. That is simply not true. Many don't, and many do. I used to be an email only guy, but I go with the flow. If a lady is email only, I contact her by email. If she is ok with text, I contact her through text. One thing I rarely ever do is phone calls. I can't tell you when was the last time I actually used my phone to make a voice call to a provider.  There are also PMs through p411, etc. I was just noting that all of my most recent dates have been strictly text.

....and as we get closer to the date and build a bit of a repore it switches over to texting and/or phone calls.

On more than one occasion I've seen an ad for provider that I wished to schedule with and that ad gave a phone number and note that stated: "texts are not accepted."  So, I've called the phone number.  There was no answer, and a message would pick up and say something to the effect of "mailbox full" or "you've reached a number where a mailbox has not yet been established."

So, I can't leave a voice mail message, so I just hang up.  Then, a little later on, I receive a text from the number I called saying something like: "Saw that you called, what's up?"

This I don't understand.  I didn't leave a voice mail message, the only thing the provider has is my number on her phone as a "missed call."  Yet, she then sends a text to me.  Isn't that the same thing as the provider answering a text from me that only said "text me?"

Thing is, the aforementioned too often does not apply.

There's nothing to stop a guy from doing the same over email, but it's more acceptable to delay the response, or only answer, like, every THIRD email. Text, on the other hand, makes me seem accessible 24/7. People text me at very inconvenient times (when I'm driving, with family/friends, in class, with another client, etc) and usually expect an immediate reply. Some have managed to stress me out quite a bit by texting way too often w/really annoying sh**

In addition to last-minute requests, drunk texts, and random comments ('Hi! I just got a boner!'), clients actually do expect lengthy irrelevant chat, dirty talk, pics, etc.

Him: Hi, happy Friday!!
Me: Thanks, same to you! Hope you have a fun day!
Him: I just grilled a steak. It was sooooo good. I am Zeeeeee Maaaaahhsssster Sssssheffff!!
Me: Cool
Him: I'm watching  adfjdaslkfjdsalkfjads (sports team I don't follow here). OMG awesome game
Me: Nice
Him. So, what are you doing tonight?
Me: Unfortunately very busy with work (hint, hint)
Him: Ooo, work. Work is bad.
Him: So, are you watching the adfjdaslkfjdsalkfjads Game? Do you ever watch adfjdaslkfjdsalkfjads?
Me: No, too busy (hint, hint)
Him: Too bad, you could watch adfjdaslkfjdsalkfjads with me. You should watch this game. It's on channel 47.
Me: I don't really watch sports...I have to do work anyway (hint, hint)
Him: Wow, but hopefully not too busy to play with yourself. Are you horny?
Phone: Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. BeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeep. Beeeeeeeeeeeep!!!!
Me: O M G (eyeroll, facedesk)! WHEN will it be over??

With email, I'm more in control and can reply when I wish. And ignore something if I feel that's appropriate.

Trying to safeguard your time/sanity is an ongoing battle. At least, it is for me

LOLOL!! That convo was hilarious!!!!

You do have a point, though! I've included my number in ads and have gotten a lot of spam. The upside to this is that I also get a lot of business calls from guys that are actually interested and serious about making an appointment for the service too. As opposed to email...people are too lazy to email...

A call/text is just quicker. So if I want more volume - even if it is spam, I guess, just to make myself feel busy - including that number and accepting texts is the way to go. But at an expense... hmmm...LOL!

You might get more contacts with a phone number, but what percentage of them are actually serious about booking a date (and showing up)? After a while, you might find that you have fewer headaches (and end up with the same amount of dates) if you switch to email only.

However, it depends what your business model is like. If you depend on same-day and last-minute bookings, then phone is probably the way to go.

a phone call needs to be answered "right now" an email needs to be answered "when ever" and a text falls somewhere in between.

Like many people my phone is set to beep whenever I get a text message which is not always appreciated at 5 AM, an email won't be waking me up. Like you however I am often up at 5 AM sending emails and it's highly likely that you will actually get an answer at that hour, but what you won't get is an angry response for calling or texting me in the middle of the night.

I agree with the consensus here. I usually start with an email or P411 PM, but then once an appointment has been set we go to texting especially to confirm I am on my way, in the parking lot, etc.

Thanks for the info, ladies! (and gents). Might just have to play around and see what I like. ;)

I don't text because I don't go by my real name, it's not that feminine, and for safety I have reason not to let people connect my hobby with my personal life. I probably could get a 2nd phone but I have enough trouble keeping track of 1 phone let alone 2. So for me I email until I get to know someone.

i dont mind texting (come on it 2016 who doesnt text lol) as long as its not lengthy and straight to the point however i do wish to have one call uopn meeting just to get a feel of you
