Good luck!

I've wondered why the ACLU doesn't take up this cause.  Care to share your thoughts about that members?

thankyou for the recommendations.  if any else has ideas please keep responding.  i will search the siter as well.  thanks!

In the late seventies, the NYPD was cracking down on prostitute street traffic on lower Lexington Avenue in Manhattan.  The ACLU was defending the ladies of the night until they drifted so far south that they began to congregate around Gramercy Park--a very ritzy and expensive area in NY. The cries of solicitation from the ladies were so loud, particularly after midnight, that the then Chairman of the ACLU, who had a town house just off Gramercy Park near Lexington, complained to the NYPD and ended all ACLU support.

Similarly, today, in the extreme West Greenwich Village area, near decrepit wharves, the cries of the trans-gendered prostitutes and the transvestite prostitutes, soliciting customers, were so loud that the neighbors--all Yuppies, now--successful brought out the police to stop that street activity.

If everyone were as discrete as the luscious and beautiful Anneke, there would be less of a problem.  As it is, Manhattan is now uniformly expensive everywhere.  The absolutely last area that anyone would expect to be "gentrified" was the Meat District on Gansevoort Street, with rats the size of cats.  The only activities not related to butchering meat that existed near that area, besides Lou Reed's "Transvestite whores on Tenth Avenue", were the outlaw motorcycle gang headquarters, the BDSM leather bars and the hetero-commercial BDSM dungeons.  James Gandolfini --of the Sopranos --bought a $2 million apartment in that area, last year.

So everywhere in Manhattan, someone richer than the guido's from New Jersey or the Bridge and Tunnel crowd who come cruisin' into Manhattan, leaning out the car window looking for some action, is going to be upset if players and providers are too conspicuous. Johns from "Joisey" have their license plates photographed by the NYPD and notices sent to their homes, to be opened by their wives, because the Johns were so stupid as to pick up hookers and park in residential neighborhoods for a quick blow-job in the car. And they were shocked that the neighbors, who pay an average of $1 million for an apartment in the formerly destitute areas of SoHo and Tribecca in Manhattan, are angry. That's why prostitution is being outlawed---absolutely nothing to do with morality, everything to do with zoning laws.

When you come to New York, Anneke, I will definitely look you up.  You look so hot.

Thanks Captyve for the history lesson. I knew there had to be a reason why they weren't in the thick of this. Fascinating stuff. I understand about the zoning but would someone please explain to me why independent, discreet providers who are never seen by the outside world, except for their clients, are being hounded too. That sounds like "moralty" to me. If the government is only upset because of the perceived loss of tax revenue, why don't they legalize it? Oops!!...another can of worms. LOL

Many thanks also for your very kind words. I look forward to meeting you when I am "touring" NYC.

I fear that too many providers are simply not discrete: too much traffic coming in and out of the apartment; customers buzzing the wrong apartment; etc.  Would you be shocked to be told that a well-placed honorarium to the local precinct's chapter of the Widow and Orphan's Fund of the NYPD might cause a curious beat patrolman to look elsewhere for crime and that said-honorarium was not forthcoming?

I will call you in NYC.
