Specific Case of Stolen ID

I posted the generic version above ("Stolen Pics?"). Someone copies everything (pics, name, profile link, text) but uses a different contact number hoping to get the guys looking for the genuine article to come to them instead. Best case would be bait and switch, if you stay anyway and have a good time. Worst cases are robbery, LE, etc.. Heck, LE can clone ads and put in the phone number of the local precinct and get guys to call! (I do not like the ramifications of THAT!)

I had seen this well-reviewed provider a few weeks beforehand and called the new number in an ad that used her name, pictures, TER ID, etc. Her voice sounded different and she did not remember me or my number. (Providers will often transfer their old contact list to a new phone so that they can recognize previous clients when they call or text.) I decided not to pursue it, given the risk of either a bait and switch or a sting. I would not call any number that does not show up on a provider's TER profile.

Hi,

I found an ad for a provider I would like to meet with on backpage. I saw her number changed from last month. What I mean by this is, her new ad has a new number, but towards the bottom of her ad on backpage, she has a link to her old ad with the old number. Both have pretty much the same pictures. The old phone number has reviews on TER. I understand that her account could have been hacked, but I'm mostly concerned about police stings. Is this a safe bet? Any other considerations I should be aware of?

My first reaction is:

Legit ProviderA, AdA, PhoneNumberA, ReviewsA

ProviderB STEALS (copies) pics from AdA and creates AdB with PhoneNumberB. B wants you to call and make an appointment with who you think is A. When you get there, you meet B. She might look similar, but it's basically bait and switch.

If this is the case, B is cheating you and cheating A.

I would try the OLD PhoneNumberA and see who answers. Ask her if she knows about AdB.

I don't suppose there are email addresses? Watch out for "close" email forging: A = A-at-gmail.com B = A-at-jmail.com.

Post the actual ad links for a better assessment.

Always verify the pictures when using BP.

She could have had stalkers on that number or people harassing. Also, sometimes clients get mad you won't see them and blacklist your number or write something angry/fake.I just had to change my number for that reason.

That site is an advertising site used by many providers who have a solid review history on TER. I know some excellent providers who advertise there. I don't think the fact that a provider advertises on that site is cause for concern, if they're well-reviewed.

If she answers, ask about the new ad.  Some gals change their numbers often...  A provider's stage name & number ARE her reputation, as a reliable provider.  Those who re-invent themselves often have a reason...  like bad reviews.  I'd check her full reviews & PM her last few reviewers.
