Is it necessary to let a provider know you want to shill her or is it best to just do it?

It's not a very good practice to get into.

If you genuinely feel that a provider is good, there is no reason not to let people know.  But if you are just making up stuff to help her out, that is not cool.

In any case, you might as well let her know in case she tries to dissuade you, as that could hurt her credibility if your shilling is too obvious.

Such activity could also earn you moderation on TER if carried too far

Thank u Mr. Fischer, I didn't know so that's why I asked first. There are still many things to learn here and you veterans have the answer.

I'm going to take Mr. Fisher's advice and stay away from shilling. I will say that I do eat a can of pineapple ( 4 or 8 ) slices in its own juice a day. I'm looking for that provider to cim  for the taste test.

...allows a shill thread on the regional boards. There are specific rules for participating in those shill threads. TER doesn't allow shilling otherwise. There is info about this in the Message Board policies.

"A Shill Thread is a thread that is started with a post that is praise, thanks, or a recommendation for a certain provider for reasons of self-interest, personal benefit, or out of friendship or loyalty. Starting a new thread with a Shill Post is not allowed by TER because such threads are considered extra "advertising" above & beyond what each provider is allowed each week.

Shill Threads are not allowed, and will be removed.

Mini-Reviews posted according to the Posting Guidelines are not considered to be Shill Posts.

Responses to a current thread that refers to a provider with positive comments about that provider is okay, as long as the comment is pertinent to the topic at hand."

However, shill posts are allowed on Friday only:

FRIDAY SHILL DAY GUIDELINES

Friday Shill Day:

- Shills (not ad) from hobbyists, for their favorite provider of the week, are allowed on Fridays
- Only started by a hobbyist
- Must contain link to Provider's profile (this helps others find her); no pic
Exception:  if a new provider, (no TER reviews), the hobbyist can shill provided he submits a review within 72 hrs (Violators of this policy will lose their message posting privileges)
- Posted no earlier than 1am (local time)
- Comments are allowed from all, but should not be negative, start a new discussion or be ads from/for a provider

Are you sure you know what shill / to shill means?

"A shill, also called a plant or a stooge, is a person who publicly helps a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with the person or organization. Shill typically refers to someone who purposely gives onlookers the impression that they are an enthusiastic independent customer of a seller (or marketer of ideas) for whom they are secretly working."

If you saw her and write an honest review, that's not shilling.

If someone posts to your local board, "Anyone seen Name?" you can reply "I saw her and had a good time." That's not shilling.

If you are getting a benefit not available to others (free time) IN EXCHANGE for public praise and you do not disclose that, that's shilling. If you get extras unconditionally and are honest about your praise ("I had a great time we even left together and went for a drink, OTC. She's really nice!"), that's not shilling in most cases.

If someone posts about "These herbal viagra pills are really great and they work for me every time!" without telling us that they own the company, that's shilling. If they include a disclaimer, "Disclaimer: I own the company, so keep that in mind when you read about my enthusiastic support for the product." that's borderline shilling.

mrfisher (no c) tells us that we should drink pineapple juice to improve the taste of our ejaculate for the CIMers. I have often wondered how many pineapple plantations mrfisher owns. It may be honest praise for pineapples, but until he tells us about his other pineapple interests, there is a possibility that mrfisher is shilling for the pineapple industry.

What, exactly, did you mean by shilling? What were you thinking of doing that you are worried might be construed as shilling?

Here's the wikipedia for shill. Since I have no special relationship with nor do I get a benefit that others do not get, I am
