An addiction is usually indicated when the behavior interferes with your work, personal life, family relationships, or financial stability. I believe this hobby is great for sexual activity and enjoyment as long as it doesn't become a full-time substitue, blinding you or discouraging you from seeing or looking for fin a "real relationship" where the currency of exchange is mutual love, compassion, understanding, and support. But then again, not everyone is looking for the same thing out life and if you're not looking for a "real relationship," then hobby away to your heart's content. Is this a hobby or an addiction? I find myself utilizing escorts more often than 'civilians' nowadays. Is this a problem? I don't spend more than I can afford, and it doesn't impact my work or personal life. But I do spend a lot of time looking for and arranging appointments. Wanted to know what others think.

very interesting question; i have the same. could this be one of those "soft addictions" that becomes "harder" or leads to harder ones? even if it doesnt impact your job, could this be one of the "yets" some people are familiar with? as far as what you "can afford," isnt every $ spent hobbying that much less you otherwise spend on yourself, your family, charities, your retirement, etc...? i never used the providers you mention; could you tell us more about them? as i said above, very interesting question....

I hate when people refer to seeing escorts as a hobby. It's not a hobby. Things like watching movies and playing sports, those are hobbies in my book. Seeing an escort is just a fun time. That is all I see it as.

Very interesting question. Is it like alcohol or drugs? Diffrent guys see providers for diffrent reasons. Some because they have crappy marraiges, but can't leave for whatever reason, others to spice things up. If it provides a quick "thrill", but prevents you from pursuing other more difficult things-like a real relationship, or true emotional intimacy-is it a problem? Do you waste time at work reviewing these boards? Are you otherwise not pursuing more important or worthwhile things in your life? Or maybe a a lay is just a lay.
This seems to be a thought provoking discussion. Heres another question, if this 'hobby' (for lack of a better term) was legal in this country, would any of us have the same amount of guilt for pursuing it? This is a legal profession in so many other industrialized nations. I believe our country's puritanical roots make us feel guilty or dirty for participating in something that is completely natural. Maybe that's why some of us call this an addiction, when it really is just a good way to pass some free time.
We are 'addicted' to things that harm our bodies, our minds, and our relationships, whereas we 'pursue' hobbies in our free time. What do you think?

It is defiantly an addiction, It's better than drug or alcohol addiction but yes, it is an addiction. Try not logging on TER for a week and see what happens, if you find yourself on TER everyday and spending all your free time searching for the next provider, well what do you think??????????????????
