It's been some 15 years or so since I read this book that I believe was written in the 1950's and may have been made into a movie, also. It was a lawyer theme where the lawyer is hired by an attractive woman to defend her jealous ex-military husband who killed a man in a jealous rage over her. The lawyer used a temporary insanity plea to defend the husband. Can anyone help me remember the book title or author?

The "Anatomy of a Murder" movie that was based on the novel was also great.

During the trial scene, there was a notable discussion over the rape victim's 'panties'. The courtroom started to nervously laugh (this was, after all, the late '50's), and the the judge urged those in attendance to laugh and get it out of their systems. The actor who played the judge was none other than Joseph Welch, the lawyer who several years before helped to end the career of Senator Joe McCarthy.
