Do we really want the first actual discussion thread pushed halfway down the page? That's what killed The Erotic Highway Board for so long until they finally unpinned that thread that was up for well over a year.

I thought what it meant was that any provider could start the thread, suggest a theme, and others would follow along.  But that's not what's happening on the few boards who are actually doing it.

The photos are all random and not following a theme.

That's fine with me, but how is that really different from the photos only board??

Admin decides the theme for each month. January was mobile Monday. They haven't said yet what February's theme will be.
A provider has to start the thread and all photos have to follow the theme.  If you see random photos not following the theme, you can use the "report a post" feature.  

See the link below. It was posted on every regional board in early January.

And I don't think I get confused more than the average provider.

Maybe TER should just leave it up there all month.

Not everybody visits the boards daily or even weekly.

That means a whole bunch of average users, like me, will be confused about what the theme is.

I did see your thread about this a few weeks ago, and while I never posted on that thread, I agreed with you. Mainly because the LV board was cluttered at the top of the page with two pinned threads. Upon further thought, I think they should pin a thread to the top of the page announcing the theme for the month, so everyone knows what the theme is. However they should limit it to a one line post by DBA, and not allow any replies.  

For example:
"January photo theme is Mobile Monday."
"February photo theme is Wet Wednesday" (Note that is not the actual theme for Feb. They haven't even posted one yet.)

DBA could post that thread in the beginning of the month, and leave it pinned all month. It would take up virtually no space if they don't allow replies.  

Then they could pin the actual photo thread for the week right under that pinned thread, but only for 2 days. For example Mobile Monday theme thread stays up until the end of Tuesday, then let it go back into it's chronological place. No need for the photo thread to stay up all week. Also those photo threads should be closed at the end of the day. I don't understand why providers are allowed to add "Mobile Monday" photos on Thursday. If they missed the deadline, too bad. Wait until next week.

I have to confess, with the exception of the of the pinned thread on the Newbie board, which I think was a great and overdue idea, I don't really like any pinned threads on discussion boards. Discussion boards are supposed to be for discussion, not to view pics of orcas, grannies, and ok the "occasional" hotty.

I would agree that a couple of days at most at the top of the board would be plenty.
