Questions About Reviews

1. Except for the description of the visit, all of the information about a provider that is contained in her profile (i.e., contact information, service information, actual services provided, cost of service, provider's appearance and session atmosphere) doesn't change after the initial review, even when subsequent reviews report different information. This happens even where the initial review is several years old and the information is out-of-date, and newer information, which is required in order to submit a review, has been provided. Why is all of this information required for subsequent reviews if it isn't used? Why isn't the information in providers' profiles updated?

2. I have seen profiles where the website that had been listed for the provider was deleted and no new website has been substituted. How does this happen?

3. I have seen profiles where there are no reviews at all. How is this even possible?

1.  It is not true that profiles cannot change after the initial review.  Profiles can be updated by the provider requesting a change (e.g. phone number has changed) or by someone filing a problem report on the profile.  For example, a hobbyist notices that the provider is advertising being 32 years old and the profile says 26-30, a problem report can be filed to update the age, using the ad as documentation.  But profiles are not updated just because a review is published that has information contrary to the profile.

2. In that case, the web link might have been removed due to the provider requesting that it be removed or a problem report filed noting that the web link was broken.  A website is not required for a profile.

3. I've never seen a profile without at least one review.  The only way I can envision that happening is that a profile was created based on an initial review, and afterwards the review was pulled for some reason, but the profile remained.

I have seen at least one profile with no reviews, and your idea is right.  The provider had a review but it got pulled and I don't remember why.  Admin told me they just decided to leave the profile up assuming she would have more reviews forthcoming.

About number 1, I think admin feels that by not changing the profile just because a new review has something different, it's less work for them.  Not being a real computer person, I suspect that the review programing would need an overhaul to allow new reviews to change the profile of the provider.

If profiles were updated to the information contained in the most recent review they would likely be less accurate. Profiles would be filled out according to what happened during his session rather than what she actually offers or a full profile could easily be changed to one filled with I don't knows or more inaccuracies by a lazy reviewer.

And show the answer with a 80-90% majority. If say out of 100 reviews 87 say yes anal, and 13 say no, then profile should list yes anal. If no choice gets over 80% votes it should be YMMV or don't know.

I've seen reviews where price is still listed at $500/hr and yet most recent reviews/sites list a lot higher, and it's really annoying and inaccurate.

I don't follow your argument that a recent review will likely be less accurate than an earlier one. Given a sufficiently large pool of reviewers, there is no reason why any particular reviewer should be less likely (or, for that matter, more likely) to accurately report information about a provider than a reviewer who preceded him. All things being equal, there is a greater likelihood that a recent review will more accurately reflect the provider's current status/situation than one that was written, for example, 5 years ago. Anyway, that's my two cents.

......filed by people who care about updating a profile. If a profile were to be changed every time someone submitted a review they would only reflect what happened in that one session. Does she do anal? Not with me so the profile is updated to no or IDK, the same with FC, BBBJ etc....A bad client is free to write a review but her profile shouldn't be changed to reflect what happened to one guy because he isn't familiar with soap or mouth wash. That is why I say every new review shouldn't update the profile.

It is a PITA to have to submit that profile info every time you write a review.  I do not know about others but I like to do my best to ensure that what I submit is accurate.  So having to fill out the profile info takes a good bit of time.  Even when copying from another review.  I wish there was a way to skip that portion and just describe our experience.

It is a very frequent lament that it would be pretty easy to autopopulate most fields with current Profile Info.

Do you know how long it took to get TER to even add "Profile Number" to the submission form?  (A: Many years.)  Without it, TER proofreaders would end up creating lots of duplicate profiles ... and a lot of confusion.  The pros and cons of autopopulate have been discussed on Newbie but the only negative I'm remembering was that if it was too easy to submit a review, there would be more fake reviews.  ... but I think there would also be more real reviews.

Who would win?  I dunno
