I do what Vixen does.... but most gals and guys suggest 2-4 weeks in advance so they can get their money stashed away (in cases where he has to put aside money a little at a time).

I think if you really want to have a good trip, No harm in posting ads 4 weeks out and the day before. So plan accordingly as every ad has to be a week apart. Nothing bad is going to happen if you put a visiting ad out a few weeks. It can only help you.

I post one week in advance adding to prebook and then again a day before I arrive just as a friendly reminder. But that's just me.

With sites like TER where you can only place one ad for one city every 7 days, you have to alternate where you are placing them so it takes longer. Also, many areas like D.C. Chicago, NYC, ATL, are saturated so your ad hardly has time to even be seen before it falls off the page. The more exposure you have, the more time for pre-booking.

I agree with the 4 week out initial notification. (or longer). Nothing frustrates me more than to visit a friend, then see someone I REALLY wanted to see is coming the following week.. especially since, I don't hobby every week, but every 3-4 weeks
