Tacky and unprofessional...

The only emails or numbers I save are those of guys who flat out tell me to keep their info. because we chat on a regular basis. For all others, that is not how I provide references. A hobby email and fake number are not how I screen in the first place, so why would I need to keep those things lol. Some providers are simply desperate, as you have experienced.

Last night I got a text from a provider that I know nothing about. I have never seen this girl. I have never contacted this girl. She knows my number and my face-to-face handle. She is not even in my region. Should I be alarmed that this girl is texting me out of nowhere? I have a wild guess about how this girl got my information but but its really grasping at straws. Help?

I would ignore/not respond to a cold call from a provider unless I was told before hand by the person who gave her my info. Better to be safe than sorry

I have not had that happen, but I have had numerous providers that I have never seen, or even communicated with in any way, view my profile on Date-Check.  They, too, were not even in my area, and have never been there either.  I asked one of them why, and thanks to my not-so-sharp memory, I can't remember why she looked at me.  Never heard anything else from her.

and for the record that is by far the best way to deal with the situation, absolute radio silence. I would not even acknowledge the text.

That is the surest way to get bombarded by marketing buzzsaws.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over this, but I wouldn't respond either.

Update: I asked who the sender was. (before I got any replies) I got a reply I was expecting. She used the name of a provider I have never seen. She is outside of my region. Months ago, I contacted her and offered her an extra like $150-$200 to travel to my region, doable by car. I just didn't want to drive 2 hours to be stood up/cat fished. She declined and we never met up. The last effort I made to her was in October. I was traveling to her region. She was not advertising. I was able to contact her through conventional social media about meeting up or referring me to a girlfriend who would. I never got an answer. I deduced that she quit the biz.

Now she is contacting me using a number I have never seen her use before and doesn't result in her ad/review.

-Why is she contacting me now?
-Why is she using a number that is associated with other providers?
-She is using a name I recognize but how can I be sure she is who she says she is

1) She has bills to pay and you have money
2) She changed numbers for any variety of reasons (stalker, spam, account expired, hobby phone, etc)
3) You have no idea if she is who she says she is

If she's on TER then she could have now linked your posting about it to your TER ID plus your real ID from the social media interaction you mentioned.  Radio silence now may be more difficult, but perhaps she'd understand.
