If the providers tried several times to contact turkana and staff and then you did the same and none of you received a response to all those emails then I humbly apologize.
I don't know turkana very well, but he seems to me like someone who is very dependable and would have responded in a reasonable time to any questions about someone being mod'd. I just don't see how what appears to have been a simple case of following the rules required you to post as you did.
For those providers that have either called or PM me regarding issues with posting on TER. I jsut sent off another email to them to hopefully clear up some of your posting issues.
Based upon the growing number of emails I am getting. There seems to be some issues as to why this board from an administrative position is going away from being provider friendly.
I await a response from the Staff and Turk.

I'm provider friendly and TER is provider friendly. But there is an issue of fairness. When I took over as moderator, I was provided with a set of guidelines for ads. Those guidelines can be found here:

As I studied this board from day to day, I discovered that providers were not following the guidelines. Some did not have the TER badge or a banner; others were posting ads 2 or 3 times a week. This is unfair to the providers who follow the rules and post an ad once a week and have the badge. Indeed, I received complaints from some providers who were in compliance about others not following the rules.
I am happy to say that almost all of those who post ads here follow the rules -- I think that's proof enough that we are "provider friendly." There's nothing "unfriendly" about enforcing the rules in an even-handed way.
Finally, let me say this to the providers out there, and please LISTEN UP!!! You can increase your visibility and your business by posting comments, questions, jokes, observations, etc. on this board that are NOT ads. I would love to see this board be something more than a classified ad section -- I'd like to see providers' views on the business, clients, TER, the weather, the Twin Cities as a place to work, provider/hobbyist etiquette, health issues, and so forth. You can put virtually unlimited posts on that are reasonably tasteful and not ads. You can even put a link to your website, so guys will know who you are. So, use your God-given imagination and put up something entertaining, and draw attention to yourselves!

The first time, it was never explained why, despite my requests, and I was moderated for a long time. The second time it was explained why, but it was never my intention to cause a violation of TER policies. Subsequently I have learned that it is better to ignore the choices that moderators make with regards to other providers, which is ultimately none of my business. Since my first moderation I have corresponded directly with the moderator with any issues that I have had. I may not agree with the choices that they make, but it is not my job, and I am sure they have their reasons. I trust that a moderator will communicate directly with me if there is an issue, as that is the appropriate thing to do. Posting personal concerns regarding TER on the board is inapproprite, and can actually hurt the reputation of a provider or hobbiest by questioning their character.
Moderation is difficult for a provider. Especially when traveling. It's hard to make updates, and repond to posts directed at you. Ultimately it has hurt my business, and I have had to learn to plan ahead and work around my problem by PMing or e-mailing people who ask about things that I would like to communicate to them directly via their thread.
Ultimately it must be understood that TER is a business, and anything that could be construed as damaging to that business, as in regards to other members, or the community at large will be regulated. Its a bit of a win-lose situation, however I am glad that TER is here, and I am proud to be a part of it. I hope that the membership of TER increases, as it is a wonderful site.
MDL, why is it your place to act as an intermediary between providers and TER? Do you have an official position with TER? If you have been contacted by providers you should be directing them to contact Turkana or another TER mod about the issues and if that doesn't work to contact Staff or GND. If they do not receive satisfaction from that, then, perhaps you might get involved. Even then this should be handled first through PM's. I see no need for you to have posted this except to garner attention for yourself. If numerous ladies have contacted you then you certainly have their email addresses to have sent this to them directly. If I'm incorrect please let me know and I'll stand corrected.
Ladies, If you have contacted MDL about this because you weren't getting appropriate action from turkana or staff then now would be a good time to say something in defense of MDL.
All, if we have problems with TER we should ALWAYS start with the mod on the board where we're having the problems. If here then Turkana, if Atlanta then pluged, etc. If that doesn't work for whatever reason we should talk to staff. When srvfan first began mod'g the rules were kept really tight for a long while and then slowly eased up to conform more to the spirit of the rules rather than the letter. I assume turkana may be doing the same thing, and rightly so.

The providers have emailed me due to the fact that ai have a lot of knowledge of the workings of TER and know who to contact to get issues reseolved. For a short time I did have an offical position with TER but decided it was not in my best interests to continue that and be able to more freely post and review providers.
Any provider that has contacted me I have informed them to always contact Turkana or the Staff to get these issues resolved. They have asked me for my help and assistance to get this resolved. I did not seek them out and this was handled by many PM's. I do NOT need to "garner any more attention on this board than I already generate.
I posted this issue to get a better awareness of the problems these providers have been facing to further help them figure out whay they are having issues. Like I have always said: The sqeaky wheel gets the most attention.
BTW, any reason you can not use your real handle rather than an alias? Maybe you should consider stepping up to the plate if you have a statement to make!

Please...MDL has a high level of arrogance, deservedly so some may say and others possibly not. However, I do not disagree with some of the other posts stating that MDL does a number of good things for fellow hobbyists and also providers. More often than not MDL, you attempt to come across as the Twin Cities ultimate and most knowledgable hobbyist. In reality, I think it's kind of funny actually. Sometimes it is better to be the seeker of "truth and knowledge" and be the humble warrior. I am not sure that humble and MDL can be used in the same sentence. My two cents, and that's all it is worth is two cents. I have only been a subscriber for a few months and only have one review posted, but it was time, I felt to "step up to the plate" and comment. I also agree with NetMichelle that "The Godfather" monaker is probably, a little scary says she; and me thinks, a little more out of context to this site. Signed, Contempt1.

If this verbal sparring, digging, knife wielding you are carrying on is any indication of your previous TER restrictions I can see how that came about.
I for one don't feel the need to attack MDL or anyone else on the twin cities board. I believe that the hobbyists and providers that hear input from MDL understand that is all that it is ---- "input".
I also believe that staff and Turkana are more than capable of dealing with any 'situation' that may arise. Since the previous moderator "srvfan", and now Turkana don't seem to be raising any issues, I have no problem. If I did I would raise it.

So if you are trying to sell your as yet unpublished book with a blizzard of postings, I guess you have certainly raised the awareness. You know they say that any publicity "bad" or "good" is good. MDL's raised his own concerns in this thread regarding the administration of TER. I have traveled extensively in the states using TER in my travels and this is the first time I have heard of anything like this. It is not a question of who is right or wrong, or what has been the status quo or not. Frankly it really has nothing to do with me, as I direct my problems directly through TER and not through a go between. Personally I could care less; I am just adding my two shiny copper pennies like every other member here.
Oh, and by the way, if my posts are not effective or entertaining for you then just don't read them. My diction may seem abrasive, because I take care to remove the fluff and don't want to pad my meaning. I am an active member of TER, I read and post frequently on all of the boards. I use TER as my tool and it helps me immensely, so there is a reason why I picked this handle!
