In some areas, a gal will post an ad when she needs money. She tells every guy who calls to come over. She accepts the first to arrive & turns her phone off until she's free again. She never returns Voice Mails. The next one to call, gets accepted.
I think it's a sucky plan but it takes up a minimun of her time while raising cash, so she can pay the rent or go out & party. It is extreemly disrespectful of the guys time... I live outside the city so it takes me too long to get there to make the connection. I can not tollerate having my opportunity wasted so I don't both with those who do this.
The problem is you don't know that's how she works until you arrive... and get no answer.
a couple of times now, I set up dates, and the girl either doesn't answer when i call or gets me to the hotel a d doesnt answer.
In that first call, i keep it short, dont mention sex, just say i saw her ad in backpage, wondering if she has time on a certain Day. i dont even talk about money.
One girl i did see said at first she thought i might be a cop because she was in a place where there was a raid.
Might it be how i sound? I dont get it.
...not just Back Page. Look at how many posts there are on the regional boards about gentlemen being stood up by well reviewed ladies.

very true- I mentioned backpage, but some of them had reviews on TER. Thanks for all the advice, though, makes me feel better. I will check the reviews on TER for whether or not the provider is responsive, and if I try someone out new, will realize that they might be flaky.

Sometimes, the provider might sense that you are someone that she might know. At times providers do more research than you think and they might have a sense that you are somehow connected to her social or work circles. I suspect that this has happened to me on a few occasions. Sometimes a no show might have saved you from a potentially embarassing situation.
This will happen to you almost surely if you shop around backpage. It doesn't matter whether you are a veteran or a novice. Stick with well reviewed providers.
Also....you will hear the most creative excuses. Don't believe any of them lol.
My favorites are:
1. My car was in the shop.
2. I had to run to the store. (for 5 hours)
3. I was in the shower. (another 5 hours
look anywhere, but you gotta do the research. And it's pretty obvious to me you are not following up on checking her out. Research means checking for reviews, verifying her phone number and her pics. If you wanna keep using backpage, be prepared for more disappointments if you don't check her out. There are many quality providers that use bp, but in some areas, it's not so reliable, so DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!
