A wicked and abhorrent attack on the innocent people of London today.  I so hope you were spared the worst of it.

You and the people of London have my sympathy today.

Noctilux is a well known hobbiest from London that many of us ladies here in the states know well. I hope they are both well and here from them soon. My thoughts are with you both.

You lot stared down the worst the Nazis could throw at you. I have no doubt you'll do the same to these pissant barbarians.

Shoulder to shoulder,

Thank you for your good wishes.

I was so happy for London on Wednesday, so pleased we'd be hosting the Olympics.  Then yesterday, I was shocked but not at all surprised at the tradegy unfolding a few miles from my home.  Also, I was very, very sad for those who were killed, maimed and bereaved by those terrible acts.  I was supposed to have a business meeting at 9am at Aldgate, scene of one of the explosions.  It really brings it home how random it is who is affected - I was lucky my meeting was cancelled because somebody was sick.

One of my hopes now is that there is not a backlash against Muslims in the UK as there was in the Netherlands after the murder of a film-maker (Theo van Gogh) there by a fanantical Muslim.  I hope the British people are as understanding of the fact extremists are not representative of the wider Muslim community as the people of Spain were after their terrorist tradegy in Madrid.  More violence will just make the world a worse place for all of us.

True enough. I have a Muslim student who had just achieved his private pilot's license before 9/11. His mother refused to let him near a plane for fear he'd be suspected of complicity. He also would rather the class not know he's a Muslim. Too bad. He's a good kid. On the other hand, I do believe the Muslim community in London must suspect who could've done it. They should report their suspicions.

Carrie, I have a relative that was scheduled to be on one of the planes on 9-11, but delayed her trip literally at the last minute.  I thought of that when you mentioned that you were scheduled to be at the site of one of the explosions.  I'm not a religious person, so I'll call it a fortunate twist of fate.  We often forget how lucky we are, and assume these things will never impact us personally.  I'm glad that you are safe.

You're a better balanced person than me, Carrie.  For a month after 9/11 I was hoping for open war against at least 10 Moslem countries.  The insanity faded slowly.  Now that possibility is my nightmare.
