and it would be true. At least I think so.
I look forward to the day when visits to providers are covered by health insurance.

Realize it may not be in my lifetime, but they have done more to improve my health (mental and physical) than 90% of my covered medical appointments.

Just seeking interesting ways that you all have made up reasons to take time to visit a provider during work hours or after work.  How often can a "doctors" appointment work with seeming to say you are really not well.  Believable reasons that work for you, I am not interested (sorry) in blatant lies that can come back to haunt us all.  Your thoughts?

You can easily pass off some sort of frequency with that.

I don't like the pressure of having only a limited amount of time and having to make excuses. There's too much that can go wrong and it ruins the experience. I have to have the day or evening to myself without having to worry about being an hour or two late. Ideally, either my wife is out of town or I am, or I have the day off and she doesn't. I can make excuses, but I'd rather not have to. Actually, the excuse I hear most often that I like best is going to gym to workout, but my wife would never believe that one.

I have read several threads of married men in this hobby. I don't care what you do. what I am curious about is how do you find the time, the money, and hide your time online from her, unless you all are in open relationships or she just doesn't care. I myself,am single with no kids or drama in my life.im a very private person that doesn't tell anyone my business nor do I try to be in anyone elses. I don't tell friends or family about my hobby here because its my business and keeping it to myself keeps down a lot of possible questions and bs from people,so this is my secret. I wouldnt do this if I was married because to much added stress of keeping it from a wife, its just not my thing, wondering when the day will come when I arrive home from work and she has discovered my secret.  I try to live as stress and worry free as possible.

At least every other week, sometimes more than once in a week, he'd go to the dentist.  He was always a lot nicer when he got back, too.

and real.  Never use another person as a cover as that can too easily blow up.  Any hobby or sport you like will work.  I can spend hours in a hobby shop or chasing rare auto parts...  I can even hide them in my car trunk & bring in after a session.  Or woodworking or metal crafts...   but you have to do the hobby most of the time so the AWOL hours blend into it.
Jogging?  Might work for some but not me.  Gym?  Not me.  Bicycle?  Maybe.   Building Flying RC aircraft?

Before she retired, I had all day...  once she left in the morning...   When she goes to her mother's or sister's...  When one of us is out of town...

....and then when I return 2 hrs later he always asks what took so long, and I always break into a very graphic description of my messy period episode. He flees with his hands over his ears yelling "La-la-la-la I'm not listening!!!".

Been working like a charm for 3 years :D

Might also explain why you feel better upon return.  Just don't share the name of who your doctor is otherwise someone else in the office might want to visit too!

Emergency repair at house for plumbing leak, or AC repair.  Meeting a contractor for a quote.

Maybe you're getting an appliance delivered?  That's risky though since it's a durable item you'd be expected to discuss.

In my case I call an offsite meeting.  So much of what I do is above my manager's head that he has no clue what's going on even if it's real work, and offsite meetings are fairly common for me depending on which project I'm working.

... then I wouldn't hobby during working hours. I'd do it on weekends, evenings or days off.

But I have a job with no set hours. I work much more than 40 hours a week, but as long as I serve my clients and get my work done I can take off during the day.  When I do see providers during the work week I try to do it when it will have minimal impact on my job, eg late afternoon or early morning.
