Why is it that some touring ladies think that they can charge the same rates in the NYC/LA area as they can when they are visiting Ohio?
Those are totally different markets and the cost of visiting in NYC/LA is far higher than any city in Ohio, especially in the big three Cs.

I'm guessing that some of these ladies, while making less money than back in NYC/LA, make more than enough money on their visits to justify the trips and treat them more as "mini-vacations".

They charge what they do because they can. If you do not have the transportation costs you do not get the goods, it's that simple. On the contrary once the goods pile up at the dock with no buyers the prices do go down.
What girls are you referring to, I see a lot of 300/400 plus a couple recently that want 800/1000 but that's for 2hrs. We have several 400/500 of our own, what am I missing?
