...what kind of initiating contact the provider prefers. Many want e-mail first with your references and other screening information along with a date, time, and duration of the desired appointment. Using the phone comes later on the day of the appointment. Read all of her web site or ad for this information.

If phone is the only way to contact her then make the call during daytime hours. Be sure to leave a message if she doesn't answer explaining if and when she should call you back. Most won't call if they don't know it's ok to do so.

I have to add here be sure the provider is well reviewed (6 to 10 reviews) written by reviewers with lots of reviews. Newbies should stick to well reviewed providers. It would be good if she has a web site but not absolutely necessary.

Some providers don't list the hours to contact them. I understand it's nice to communicate way ahead of time, yet it's not always feasible. So is what is the protocol here - does no hours mean "ok to call 24/7"? Thx.

And I bet you get many different answers.
I'll take a stab but I am curious as to what the other ladies think.
Personally I would not make a call to someone before 9am or after 9pm.
If someone posts their number publicly they probably have the good sense to turn off the ringer when they are sleeping or unavailable. So technically you could call 24 hours without disturbing them. But do you really think that if you call a lady late at night she will be ready to go and not already have plans for the evening? I cannot imagine having to jump up after shutting down for the evening and getting a call and then having to screen the guy and then put your makeup back on.
I do think it is OK to email any time because those can be answered the next morning

Between the previous posts that pretty muck sums it up.
Thanks to ter reviews you can avoid any awkward questions.
When providing initial contact in addition to any requested verification  information it is helpful to be as specific as you can be as to when you want to meet.
Ok to start with e mail as you will be reading reviews and websites if I can have some time to verify you as well so for new friends e mail is good way to start.

I always get plenty of texts and calls during the night.  Don't we all?  I know how to take care of myself and turn my phone off when I'm finished for the day

provider a chance to respond when convenient for her.  Some use the features on their smart phone while others prefer to use a laptop to correspond.
