That's how they pay for Overtime? NOT!

Money from fines does not go for police operations and payroll. It goes into the jurisdiction's (city, county, township, or state) general revenue fund. That is because we (the people) told state legislators that we didn't want the police to determine how much money they get to spend by aggressive and unwarranted enforcement. And in a rare case of following the wishes of the electorate, the legislature did what we asked. There are exceptions (notably drugs), but this stuff (hobbying, speeding) ain't them.

Careful out there people..... Mansfield Ohio is running a sting (read the mansfieldnewsjournal.com)

Take care......

And such a small town.  With all the serious crime around there, you'd think they'd have something better to do.

inflated pensions and all the other bullshit that cops NEED (said with much sarcasm).

Not to make this into a "racial thing" but shit like this has been going on for years in the Black community.

When I first got my drivers license my Father told me always follow all the rules period!!!!!  The reason(s) was first to be safe and second he know that cops love to sit in Black communities and "rack up" ticket (money) for petty ass offenses.

Same thing happening in Mansfield.  I guarantee that the cops probably needed more Overtime and the Chief said not in the budget.  Cop solution ***let's run a prostitution/john sting***.   They will probably get several thousand dollars in fines/tickets/etc. if not more and boom - overtime solution solved-.

But hey people don't complain about this shit until it effects them.

Imagine if suburban cops started doing shit like ticketing for the grass being too high or cars parked close to the curb (BTW these are real offenses in a majority of suburban cities).  White people would go ape shit crazy.  They would be the ones in the street screaming.  But hey until then I guess its not a problem:(

How did this turn into a racial thing? Granted I haven't been to Mansfield in a few years, but as I remember it the demographics are majority white.

Also, I don't think you've spent much time in small towns. Having lived in a couple of them over the years I can tell you the cops absolutely do ticket for grass height, distance to curb, etc. Hell, I've had a car towed because it sat outside my house for more that 48 hours. I parked it out there on Friday and Monday morning it was gone. I contacted the PD because I thought it had been stolen and they told me they marked my tires on Friday and checked them on Monday. When they saw it hadn't been moved they towed it. Then they sent me a fine in the mail. And I had to pay a separate fine to get it out of impound. And that little town was so white that a tan qualified you as a person of color. I've also had to pay fines for grass length, driving left of center (because my tire briefly rolled on the dividing line), and even once because I failed to clear the snow from my license plates from the snowstorm that had happened the night before.

And when my house was broken into one time the cop arrived, took my info and statement, and that was it. I asked what are they going to do about it, and the reply was "what would you like us to do?" I said "You could dust for prints or something; try to get a lead on the criminal." The cop laughed, said "sure thing buddy," and walked away.

I'm not saying the black community doesn't have it far worse, only that it's not accurate to say what you did.

In any case, I heard on the news that Columbus had a sting last night also. I think they said 3 women were arrested.

They do ticket for the grass being too high in suburbia. Matter of fact, even more so. so yea, you shouldn't make it a racial thing because it isn't. We get tickets for stupid stuff too, and they sit around the corner waiting for us going 5 miles over the speed limit.

It's not about black or white, it's about green. The only way they won't pick on you is if you live in an area were known millionaires live. Why? Because then they know you have the money, power, and political connections to take their jobs.

So please, while I get that racism does exist in america, it's not everywhere and in every nook and cranny of the nation. When you stop bringing it up and playing race cards, then we can get to the true root cause of our problems.
