I did finally find information that seemed to say that on the Amazon site, but it was not exactly clear.

I did do the alternative of having it come to me so I can give it to her in person. More fun that way.
I am unconcerned about her learning my real name as she has known that for quite a while.

Though she rarely, if ever, reads the Newbie board, I don't think she knows my alias, so I may be able to surprise her :-)

Not really a specific hobby question, but this dilemma only came up for me because of the hobby.

My favorite provider put up an Amazon Wish list and while I had it up I selected an item and clicked "Add to Cart" and it went into my Amazon cart. I bought it, and a day later I checked her wish list again to see if it was still there (not wanting to get her something that someone else may have bought her) and it was gone. Then, I realized it may be gone because I bought it off her list.

Does an Amazon Wish list that belongs to someone else work that way? I have only bought things off my own wish list before.

... that you are not doing this on a shared computer.  Anything you browse or buy on Amazon (and other sites also) can and probably will pop up later as an ad on your web browser.

on the gift card that goes with it, even if you don't ask for one or add a message.  So whatever name Amazon knows you by, and not username but instead what would go on a package sent to you, will be in that package.

Alternatively, you can pick the item off her list and have it shipped to you instead.  It will still remove it from her list, it will arrive at your address as a gift package, but won't have any of her identifying information in it.  Then you can hand deliver it if you don't want to share your real name.

Once something is purchased, it is removed from the recipient's wish list. That way she doesn't end up with duplicates of the same item.
