Man, so many choices, so little time. I'll have to change my username now, too!!!

I'm a newbie who's done a lot more reading than posting, but am trying to become a little bit visible here.  Initially, I thought my TER handle "Negoti8er", which applies directly to my professional life, was clever, benign and maybe a tad interesting.

After reading lots of discussions in the forums, it's clear that negotiating with girls, at worst as a newcomer, and at best pretty much any time is not looked upon favorably by the provider community.

While I don't mind taking advantage of a special if it's offered, I'm not the type to attempt to negotiate rates or anything else relative to a date or session that was not initiated. offered or advertised by a provider.  I read providers websites thoroughly and try to carefully play by the rules as a gentleman.  So far in my limited experience things have worked our OK, but...

My question is,  does my TER handle conjure a negative impression of who I might be or how I might behave relative to the hobby?  Would you assume I'm a pain-in-the-ass monger who's always looking to badger on on rates, or would you assume I'm just some type of professional like a contract attorney, real estate investor, deal maker or even a hostage negotiator with a clever handle?

I don't think it's as bad as some others I've seen here recently, but I'd hate for it to negatively impact my access to opportunities.

When I started sounding it out..... at least one worse one came to mind

As mentioned above, it should be simple enough to do by contacting Admin about it.

Yes, your current username may be doing you no favors because as they say, you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

I personally make no assumptions about a person based upon his username, but that's just me.  I've met enough men with aliases such as "GentleJoe" or "TreeStump" to know that they are often nowhere near a true reflection of that person's real nature or physical form. :-)

I think the fact that you are even asking this means that you already know the answer, and are regretting choosing that handle. So, just change it to something that is not offensive. All you have to do is click on "contact us" and ask them to change it.

I definitely assumed that you meant it in terms of negotiating within the hobby. It's not a big deal to change it, though. You can just shoot a message to admin and ask them to take care of that for ya.

with all those numbers and an x, no one is going to guess my name is Dan.  Also, nothing with negative connotations, like DCapoTator.

Thanks for all the replies and feedback.  Not sure yet what I'm going to do.  I did find out it was easy enough to change because when I first registered on TER I typo'd my on handle and had to send a request to change it then.

I kind of figured that if I just be myself and don't act like a douche around here or with any ladies, I'd build a solid track record and the handle wouldn't matter much.

ShiverDeliverer is pretty freaking awesome though...

Hmmm..

The strange thing about these boards is that your handle worries people while "Cockmaster69" or "BigDickDaddy" would cause zero concern.

No need to sweat this. I am not saying ANY handle goes. No, "EscortMurderer" isnt going to cut it. But as you point out, yours is quite benign.

Providers need to know you are not LE and not a nutjob. They can come as close as possible to knowing you are not either by you providing proper refs/verification info. If you have those issues solved, I dont think there is really anyone that will exclude you from seeing them.

To even further your case, you say you dont negotiate. So then, whats the problem? In your case, the girl gets her requested fee and she will see you dont negotiate by your email contact with her.

If she did have doubt by initially seeing your handle, which I doubt, that doubt would be washed away by your ACTIONS, not some handle you chose to hide your real, given name.

Your own limited experience tells you that you are fine with your current handle. As one that negotiates with working girls on an almost weekly basis, I can reassure it will not be an issue. Think about this: girls are checking my refs from girls I have negotiated with. If it was so horrible that I negotiate, they would tip off the the girl I was trying to see. See my point?

If a real negotiator like myself has virtually no problem with seeing the girls he wants, then certainly a guy feigning to be one shouldnt have any problem whatsoever. LOL

... we have interacted over TER and it never even occurred to me. I personally get a lot more from the way a person communicates with me than making assumptions about what their chosen username reflects. People even pick some pretty immature/raunchy type names and while that *may* encourage a slight eye roll, if they're polite and charming with me there's no reason to not just laugh it off as a joke. Same with your name - if you're not pushing negotiations, I don't think all providers would be wary. Just my 2c.
