Suggestion and Policy

The problem is...red_smile

... how would Admin decide which posts are written with poor grammar intentionally, or unintentionally?

I know a certain frequent poster, a provider, who often writes posts that use poor grammar and thus are sometimes hard to understand.  I suspect but don't know for sure that she does this intentionally. But there's some posters who love her writing style so much that they try to imitate it.  So it doesn't seem like this is a big problem.

Another reason a post might be written with poor grammar and be hard to understand is the poster doesn't have English as his/her first language.  They intentionally wrote the post the way they did, but it's the best they can do.

If posts are written solely to attack someone, I'm ok with sending them to the bit bin. And it's pretty clear when a post is only an attack. But I think it's another thing entirely to expect Admin to judge whether a post has bad enough grammar to delete it.

If a post is hard to understand, I either ask for a clarification or maybe I just skip it--depends on how important the topic is to me.

sometimes our posts get rejected Because they may be negative or to incite fights or drama.... I get it. They do however, allow posts that sometimes are very poorly written (ex: ripmany posts on general board). Should Ter also tackle people who willingly make posts that are written with excessive poor grammar?

This site has certain standard but they don't seem to care much about how well people express themselves. Now please don't misinterpret my suggestion. I'm talking specifically about people who willingly write posts that are very hard to understand and have poor grammar. I'm not talking about the poster who makes the usual mistakes due to spellcheck correctors

and if they get to be too much, I just ignore them.

Best to err on the side of tolerance

Yet you praise fancy? WTF is the difference?

By the way TER's job is not to be the grammar police, and if you read some of the admin posts you'll see poor grammar there too. Of course not as bad as ripmany but still, where would you draw the line?

If you don't like his posts, don't read them!

ill be short and concise. my post was clear on what type of poor grammar i referred to. Ill give you a very simple example of why this is the second time I complain: this site have a lot of interesting people that have things that i find intriguing and sometimes theres great conversations to be had. when you lower the bar on what posts to allow thru TER filters... it lowers the quality of the boards, and soon enough people who i actually enjoy reading posts from, will cease to post.

examples:
dani987x
dr joe.
these are only two people who i dont see posting anymore or nearly as often as before. Im sure it has to do with the path the boards are taking. I guess this is just my attempt to keep the boards somewhat sophisticated and with interesting topics and not just pure BS from people trying to sound illiterate. Im not saying trolls dont have the right to post on the boards... I understand that. All im saying is, do we wanna pay the price of losing interesting posters because of it?

please dont reply to this. im being rhetorical. If you dont at least get my point then I said what i had to say and at least i tried to make my voice heard before i just move on to other boards where theres interesting conversations and not trolls wasting internet bits lol.

If dani or dr joe don't want to be here, that's there choice. There have always been illiterate posters, obnoxious assholes, board trolls and incessant BSU cluttering up the boards.

So who are we going to elect to make these calls? and I say this as the guy who used to have to make these very same calls all day every day for years as the moderator of several boards including the GD board.

My rule was if there was any doubt about whether a post or poster "deserved" to be heard was to air the post. When you start censoring posts you start down that slippery slope of muzzling people you don't agree with, or simply don't like.  I don't like Fancy, BBBBB or Ripmany, but I will support their right to be annoying if the alternative is to allow the Ubersensitive board police to silence posters they either don't like or simply find annoying.

Guess what? I bet you there are a LOT of people who would love to gag GaG, voting to muzzle the likes of ripmany could be a forebearer to vote to muzzle yours truly and do you really any of us will be safe at that point? Be very careful what you ask for as you might just get your wish. TER tried this once and it was a miserable failure.

Fancy is elegant and precise; ripmany just goes on and on like the proverbial tale told by an idiot.

I know that they are different kinds of writers, but that does not mean that they should be conflated.  Fancy's posts are a pure cool breeze while ripmany's are a miasma

She uses very few words to get her point across, and thus is simplicity itself, which is a major component of elegance.

Her grammatical construction may not be the Queen's English, but stylistically, I find it very becoming

Thanks taking time talk shit about me &spelling.People crying over boards and opinions and typos.LMAO .Thank you for taking time out of your day to shit talk me.LMAO

GaG is right, it's a slippery slope. The board is censored enough already. If they tried to institute a policy as you describe, eventually whoever gets elected to draw the line between tolerance and regulation would put it somewhere you or I didn't agree with and then we'd be back here going 'round and 'round.

I'm not defending the people you're talking about. The ludicrous posts are getting very old. Sorry, but it's part of life in a free society. You're going to have a few bad apples.

Just focus on the fun and good info here and the people you do enjoy. As for the rest; as Rambo said, "FUCK 'UM!!"

The solution to the troll problem is not in feeding them like this. That goes for the GD board too. The people who blast and mock these posts are keeping the trolls fat and happy. The link explains what to do about trolls.

Others are deliberately being cryptic because they want to communicate only to a few individuals in their clique.

Some just make mistakes because they are typing their responses very quickly without proofing.

Some just aren't skilled at expressing themselves verbally.

Too many reasons why some posts are not up to snuff for any one person.

And who decides? There are already guys who follow other guys from board to board so that they can harass them every time they say anything. We can't dogpile everyone who doesn't make sense or whose board behavior resembles perversions they would vehemently deny in real life.

Not to mention some people are stupid even though they write in complete sentences.

Welcome to the internet, it is what it is. Even I don't want to ban people I don't like. What fun would that be? Although I will admit, if RIP AND Fancy BOTH decided to take a few years off, I'd be ok with that, but until then I will support their right to be stupid in public.

...Why don't you try and report one of ripmany's many posts that violates this guideline?  Let us know what they say.
