Depends entirely upon the lady and the dating climate. Just saw one of my regulars yesterday and wore shorts, but knew they would stay on for about five minutes. She is casual to begin with, and met me with a towel draped around her, just out of the shower, which disappointed me because I would have gottin in there with her.
Also, consider the situation...if you are going out dining at a four star restaurant, would advise you to dress up.
Bottom line if you are uncertain, ask her for input... am sure she would appreciate that.
This would be for meeting a woman at her hotel and yes, the climate is hot, so that is why I was wondering. Summer is here!! Of course a nice restaurant would dictate otherwise.

live in the carolinas where the temperature is in the high 80's every day this week. Everyone wears them (except in offices, etc) even out to dinner in most casual (but nice) restaurants.

Of course, it depends on where you are going...to a club or out to a nice dinner it would be inappropriate.
Personally, I wear shorts from April til October, LOL.

So now it's all black, all the time. Sure, perhaps I look slightly out of place when lying by the pool, my cape acting as my beach towel, but there's no denying I'm dapper and fashionable.
I even retired my [sniffle] cowboy boots at her behest.

Truly want to dress down, find a nice Playboy tie and wear it with your best BIRTHDAY SUIT.
Now that should be very discreet!
Some times you have to. When leaving the house(I'm retired), I have to dress the way I normally would. Shorts in warm weather and sweat suits in cold. If I put on long pants and a really good shirt, I would raise red flags.
