yes the BB is very risky. but i guess they ask b/c they don't care and are willing to take the risk (obviously). but i have found that a couple of providers have been willing to engage in that practice b/c i was a familiar/longterm client..and just hearing some other stories, BB is more common than we would like it to be....

I do not know if it is something in the air or what but this week alone I have had at least 4 men write asking about bareback riding. Now maybe these gents are not the brightest bulbs in the forest but I would think with the prevelance of a number of rather nasty bugs AIDS being just one, that people would understand the need for safety when being intimate with an other. After having fired off several "Are you Flipping Nuts?" letters I have simplified my response to; Not an option even for the significant other I rather enjoy life. Maybe you should consider other options that might allow you to see your grandkids grow up. I then post this link.

I did not know I was going into elementary education with this job lol.

Ok I am over my ranting and raving.

... and your personal cloaca quotient has shown a statistical spike this week!  Either that, or school's out and there's an invisible sign on your panties that says, "SPECIAL DISCOUNT FOR SPECIAL ED GRADS."

definately went to school on the "short bus!" Keep in mind, that there will always be those who prefer to live on the edge, in terms of personal safety. Hey, If they want to play Russian Roulette, that's their choice! However, it is wrong for them to ask if they can use "Your Revolver" to do it! Lol.

We always want most that which we cannot have.  In simpler terms, stupid people are born every day.

The following paragraph is from Pages 35 and 36 of the book "The Polar Bear Strategy: Reflections on Risk in Modern Life", by John F. Ross, Perseus Books, 1999.

"First thing every morning, I usually turn on the old green metal standing lamp that once belonged to my wife's grandmother. From my reading over the past few months, I recalled that each year at least sixty Americans electrocute themselves fatally on domestic wiring and appliances. I calculated my odds over a year as 1 in 4 million. As usual I fantasized about remaining in bed that morning and sleeping in. Another risk tidbit popped into my slowly awakening consciousness: that lying in bed is, literally, risky. The headboard could fall or I could fall out of bed. Each year, beds, mattresses, and pillows injure more than 400,000 Americans. Over the course of a year, I stand a 1 in 650 chance of being injured this way. My risks from lying in be don't come just from falling headboards: sociologists have compiled risk information indicating that unemployment -- what I face if I stay in bed -- is bad for my health, placing me at higher risk for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart problems, and more. Another couple of minutes in bed surely wouldn't hurt, I rationalized. My thoughts of an amorous interlude with my wife brought to mind a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Passing from a relaxed state quickly to the strenuous exertion of passion can shock the body, raising my chances of a myocardial infarction by 1 in a million."

Everything is risky!

Some things have more risk that others. BBFS (uncommon)has more risk than a BBBJ (common). The question is how much more risk.

This question comes up frequently. Below is a link to a post that I made on this board in a similar thread on May 10th. It contains links to other articles.

Personally, I have never asked for BBFS. I realize that condoms make sex with an infected partner safer. I do not suffer from the illusion that safer is the same thing as safe.

... cost-benefit ratios of various local providers -- as you know.  But, for Chrissakes, between this business and bird flu, YOU'RE REALLY LEACHING SOME OF THE FUN OIUT OF THIS WHOLE PROCESS.  Stick to number-crunching, willya?

Here's how it's going to happen. I mean, the next time I have bareback intercourse with a woman. First we are going to be tested. Twice in a row. And, during the time that we are waiting for the results, we are going to be handcuffed together. If the woman is smart enough to get laid without me realizing it, handcuffed together, then it's my loss. Then, we're going to use a condom for the next 30 days. Then and only then, will I give consideration to bareback intercourse. With this particular woman of course. Consideration I said........
WTF is wrong with these people?
