I'm not sure about TER, but as far as forms go, most of us are cool with you emailing the info.

Like Kelly said, the only reason why I prefer my form is because often times guys will use the email alternative as a means for omitting certain pieces of information (why they think we won't notice, I have no idea). But as long as all of the pertinent info is still there, it really doesn't matter.

Hey all,

I'm a newbie trying to get my first appointment scheduled.  Is anyone else concerned about the verification forms on providers' websites being unencrypted?  I'd rather send an email if I'm going to be sending personal information like my name and where I work.  At least gmail is SSL encrypted.

I'm actually also concerned about this site being unencrypted.  Pretty sure my password gets transmitted in plain text every time I log in, and since I'm using Tor, that traffic is coming out at an exit node where people are probably scanning for such things.

Thoughts?

As for your first question, as long as the provider gets the information she needs to verify you, then you're good, in 99.9% of cases. You usually don't need to use the form. There are a few who are sticklers about the form (maybe they want users to be aware of some special criteria or complete required fields), but those are the minority.

About your second...I didn't build the site, but to all appearances, it seems like all info IS transmitted unencrypted. You just have to decide how worried you are that someone will really hack your TER account...what would they gain? And what exactly would happen to you if someone did? You have to cover your a** as much as you can (sounds like you are doing that already) and decide how much risk you can personally tolerate

And I rarely use provider web forms. When I do, I just put in the minimum I can. But that is mostly because I am lazy and want them to use my P411 info, not out of concern about security.

Now I will repeat myself once again - if someone wants to hack you, find you, or whatever, and they know what they are doing, they will find you. Most security is not that hard to crack, even if most of us did not leave tracks that lead back to us all over the place. Whatever security you have is because no one cares about you.

People get outed all the time in different ways, and often it is not information that they gave directly to the person outing them. Then there is a frenzy of accusation as they try to figure out which of their real friends was the source of the information. Sad, because 9 times out of 10 I bet the information was just out there for anyone to find, so we should only be blaming ourselves.

If you are genuinely concerned about security, the Internet is a very bad place to be.

sending an email. I don't use website verification forms. A lot of ladies will respond to the email just make sure you include all the information requested on their website. If the lady insists my using the web form, I pass.

.....information in an e-mail.

The main reason that I prefer the appointment form, is that information is not omitted.  There is nothing worse than having to go back and forth with a gentleman, when the form would have been simpler.

require employment info, which I also won't provide :-)

...provide the information I ask for, simply move on.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

. . . And that was the point. If a gent is not comfortable filling out a web form or giving employment info, indeed, he should move on and sort through other options
