What is the best and most discreet way to bring a bottle wine to a date at a hotel.  Walking through a hotel lobby with a brown bag doesn't seem acceptable or very discreet.   Also am I expected to bring glasses or plastic stemware?

....I always make sure to call room service immediately, to bring wine glasses, and an ice bucket.

If you are kind enough to bring wine, without asking your date beforehand, you may be drinking it out of coffee cups, or worse.

I would also suggest bringing wine in a nice wine bag, or briefcase.

Now, if you really want to know how to deliver wine; contact Foodyguy.............

It is a very common sight in a hotel, and won't raise any eyebrows.  It should have plenty of room for a  bottle of wine and even wine glasses.

They make some very high quality plastic wine glasses these days too, if you are concerned with breakage.

helps to blend in.  Most people in hotels carry some sort of bag.

Let her inspect the bottle before you remove the foil wrapper and the cork before you open it.

Yes, some ladies do a good job supplying the accoutrements, but from my experience, more commonly they don't unless you've specifically requested it. People meet in hotels all the time for non-P4P romantic rendevous', so entering with a shopping bag (full of wine) should not raise any eyebrows. Or, just use any kind of backpack/gym bag and act like you're staying there.

with me as "lobby cover". Plenty of room for a bottle, corkscrew and glasses. And there is always room service.

and even the opener.  The bottle does fit nicely into a lap-top case or brief case, by the way.

It was a multi-hour date so I knew we would have plenty of time to enjoy it, but I never discussed with her me bringing wine to our encounter.  I didn't even know that she liked wine.  It was our first meeting and she was coming some distance to see me.   So there were a lot of concerns in my mind of how things would play out.  And wine glasses were just not on that list.  Many hotels provide wine glasses in the room anyway, I thought.   She checked into the hotel, and everything was going great after I arrived.

After getting to know each other for awhile, I suggested a glass of wine for us.  I then saw that  there were no glasses there of ANY kind, I wasn't quite sure what to say or do next.  While looking at the paper cups provided for the in-room coffee, the lovely lady promptly produced some nice wine glasses that she had brought along with her!   What a gal!!

Ironically on our second extended date, neither of us had brought glasses that time.  But we had a good laugh and made it work anyway.    Live and learn!

On another note, just remember that these concerns about wine and glasses are trivial compared to the real issues of our hobby!!

Now, I always will include glasses if I bring wine.   Live and learn!

when you come in the staff might not be the same all day. they wouldn't notice if you were a hotel guest or visitor seeing you the first time.

You'll pay top dollar and also they tend to come to the room at inconvenient times, so you may have to break off and run into the bathroom while she gets dressed and answers the door.

Some hotels have little grocery stores in the lobby (Courtyards, for example) and have wine for sale there.  You could pick up a bottle there, though it does seem a bit suspicious to do so if you are not a guest.

in the hotel.

you can pay for it in cash and they dont know if youre not a guest.

I've done it before.

a compact area . One side after unzipped holds two wine glasses, a cork screw, two napkins on one side .The other holds a bottle of wine and keeps it chilled. Why is the song spill the wine coming to mind?

A briefcase is great, but a bag is just fine.  That's how people get things they just bought to their rooms..
