Sorry, but I would not advise doing that.

Too much of a trail for others to follow by using social media for hobbying.  I don't know what she's thinking, but I would move on and find someone else.  If she doesn't want to see clients using her ads and/or website, that's her choice.  Just don't think it's a good idea.

Provider has a twitter page.  She advertises on Backpage and some other websites and directs interested people to contact her on Twitter.  This seems to me like a full Stop Sign, abort abort, periscope down.  Am I missing something? I don't know much about twitter but this seems too unconventional to me. If necessary, please bring me into the 21st century.

I prefer to stay as far away as possible from all social media. If you're uncomfortable with social media stay away.

Sounds like she's basically using Twitter as her IM (instant messaging) service. It has a private setting where only those within a conversation can see each other's posts, but I would steer clear if discretion is your primary concern.

Following her on Twitter is not against the law and can lead to some fun banter, but if you're hiding your activities from your SO avoiding social media is a good idea. Actually setting up dates via social media seems like a less than desirable method to me.

Providers having a Twitter feed and encouraging guys to follow is not that rare - kind of like a fan club.  You could always have a hobby-only Twitter account to follow them and keep it separate from your usual one.  Good for entertainment and can show you a provider is real, but I'd never use it for scheduling or even real personal interactions.  Stick with secure email and burner phones for that communication.  Keep the links back to your real identity as thin as possible.

I have a hobby-only Twitter account and enjoy following and being followed by providers, TER, and related organizations, such as SWOP.

I also would not make an appointment over Twitter, but I enjoy the banter and learning personalities. It is certainly not an important part of my hobby, but it is an enjoyable supplement.

But, I am also more risk tolerant than most of my fellow hobbyists, if these boards are a fair indication of the hobbyist population.

I got a text from a lady who wanted me to know she would be my city.  That was cool except she did a mass text and  included all 10 of the people numbers / contact info she sent too in the text. I have a different phone / email but looking at the email addresses it seemed some used a work address.
