I have done a couple of "practice" pseudo-Nuru's (because I don't have the gel yet) and have watched videos on it. I love it and so does the participant! You get warm and oily and rub all over each other!
I plan on investing into that arena more, I am buying the gel on Amazon as we speak 
Also the provider needs a water proof type mattress (like an air mattress or wide pool float) to lay on the floor for this massage.
So much fun, and Handle is right, don't ask about explicit stuff...you can ask these things delicately perhaps? Google is your FRIEND, also some threads on these boards show how to ask providers things, etc...

You warm it up well first, about 1 minute on low in a microwave will do the trick for an 8 oz. bottle but.....
Nuru is water based, which means, unlike oils, it is going to evaporate when it cools off and that begins within just a few minutes. Evaporation is cooling, and therefore you can get very chilly when this happens.
Of course you can add more nuru and warm the person up, but eventually you'll run out.
So, I use nuru on good hot summer days when the cooling effect is welcomed, and I love it that way. Or, if you have a room you can seal off and heat up to a toasty 80-85 degrees (Use a portable heater.), then that works too. Or perhaps you have a sauna handy. That would be excellent.
I get my nuru on Amazon. It's about $15 plus shipping for an 8 oz. bottle which is plenty for a good time.
I also keep a small bottle near my bed as an all around lube. It works great and doesn't stain like oils do.
It's very safe for latex which many oils are not.
Set the bar, so to speak. Many who do nuru will also do other types of massage, and if you start with a regular or FBSM you'll find out if you click with the masseuse and want to return for a nuru. Also gives you a chance to privately discuss the next session to ensure it's what you want.
I love it. For me it's best on a pool float set on the floor with some beach towels to catch any overspray. Like mrfisher says it WILL get chilly as it evaporates, so a warm environment is nice. Afterwards you'll need to shower together to get all the gel off completely, and a body scrub works better than just soap.

I think OP is saying that he wants to AVOID extra services that not all masseuses will provide. One way is to find a licensed, out in the open, official masseuse, the kind that would be offended at the suggestion of anything TER-ish.

I think if you wish to be completely safe you would softly state that at the beginning of the session.
The review question "Privates to Privates" is often not correctly answered or understood... called various names Like camel slide or stripper slide... privates to privates (without insertion) is still unsafe.
With a LMT treatments, nothing erotic is generally offered & if you want to be clear of your desires, you leave your underpants on &/or make sure to keep your butt covered with the provided towel & your legs closer together.
Bare Ass & legs spread is an invitation for her to go there. I think underwear is out on a slick Nuru session but the spread legs signal still applies.
I've never had a full Nuru session (would like to) but I do like FBSM pampering at times & have had LMT treatments as well.
