I'm considering joining P411 with a six month free trial membership. I understand at least two provider references are required to join at first but am wondering if renewal is automatic once membership has been granted? Also, I'm aware that P411 members can receive discounted rates for certain providers and have have more complete access to provider ads. Are there any additional website advantages such as online forums, direct access to providers, etc.?
Provider references are not required for their "basic" service. That can get you started but most provider members do require additional references or their "Basic Plus" service. It is the Basic Plus that requires the provider references up front. Once you are a member and begin to see provider members, the providers can give you a thumbs up of sorts by issuing you an "OK". These then enhance your future opportunities.
Some providers member do offer discounts.
Once a member, you have complete access to advertising, provider profile access/searching and personal messaging with member providers. I like the direct communication aspects since it provides a convenient one step verification of who you are (i.e. you are indeed the person behind the client profile they see.)
Membership renewal is not automatic. It expires unless you actively renew it each year.

You can join w/o provider refs. Gina and her staff will work with you to get you verified in other ways. I don't think the site offers a free membership, nothing I see on their join page mentions that. In any case, the annual fee for membership is $129. As far as discounted rates is concerned, some providers do offer them, but there is no more access to any ads. If you are a member, you can read all of any ad on the site. There are no chat forums or direct access to providers. To contact a provider you look at her profile which will include her preferred method of contact, as well as other pertinent info about her, including links to her reviews on various sites, if she has any.
P411 is strictly a screening service, allowing hobbyists to view provider profiles, nothing more. The FAQ section explains all there is to know about the site. I don't know who told you you could get a free trial membership, but I believe you got sites mixed up. Date-Check does offer a free trial membership if you are recommended by a member provider, P411 has no such offer.

Gina explained to me that since I'm already a member, I would not see that offer on site when I log in. Prospective members only will see that offer.

While I rely heavily on TER reviews, almost every gal I've seen in the past 7 years has been a member of P-411. It's my "go to" starting point whenever I travel and recently has pointed me towards many winners right here at home in the boondocks where I live.

A gentleman can also buy me points for my account in lieu of a tip...which has happened when a date was booked with me and he had to cancel and felt bad so he put some points in my account.
I have some Gentlemen who only use p411 for contact and communicating...so they have no email worries.
I love everything about the site and the support I have received has always been very professional.
I also use datecheck but p411 seems to be more hands on and I also generate more business from p411
