I am at a crossroads though. As a first time member, I don't have the required 2 reviews posted, and I am very uneasy about purchasing a VIP membership (because I don't want my card potentially flagged for the overseas transaction). I def. don't want my first time to be a disappointment. Anyone have any ideas?
... as it is no crime to make an overseas cc transaction. Refer to this page re how a monthly cc payment would show on your cc; there's no mention of TER on your cc statement (in case someone else might see the statement):

If you won't purchase a VIP membership, one way to minimize your risk is to focus on providers from Friday Shill threads of your local board. No guarantees there, of course, but in my experience the providers called out in those threads are shilled for good reason. 
never had a problem with it. Since you don't have VIP 'yet', you are not going to be as thorough in researching providers as you should be. It really is worth it. You might consider joining one or more of the verification services, Preferred411, Date-Check, or Roomservice2000. RS2K is most popular in the midwest while the others are more widely accepted. Gina and her staff at P411 will work with you to get you verified until you can get some references.
BTW, it is not 2 posted reviews providers want, but a reference from at least 2 established providers for you. You do not have to have reviewed them, but it surely would not hurt. Another thing you need to do, if you have not already done so, is read the self help center.

....many courtesans, such as myself, are more interested in verifying other information about a gentleman, than references. I rarely, if ever, check references, unless I sense that something is not quite right.
I would strongly suggest that the OP purchases VIP. It is well worth the thirty dollar per month investment.
