I have been fortunate to do a lot of international travel for business, and of all the countries I visited Costa Rica is my favorite. My first bit of advice is not to lose your heart to a beautiful latin lady, or at least date a few before you do.

I love to surf, so have been to Tamarindo many times. If you have never tried it, go for it, you will never have better waves and less crowded conditions. I am sure you are not looking for company, but if know someone who is the best action is at the Mambo Bar. It is on the circle where the road ends in Tamarindo. Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica, but pimping is not, I kind of like their laws. So do not use a middle man. You will see groups of ladies near the front of the Mambo Bar, many are from Columbia or the Dom. Rep.. Just walk over and say hi, perhaps offer to buy them a drink. Sooner or later they will ask if you want company. If you say yes they will say the charge is $100 an hour. Sounds cheap to us, but in CR it is what an average worker makes in two week. If you counter with $60 or $80 she will say yes. I prefer to really take my time, have a few drinks with someone and get a feeling for compatability. I then make an offer for the whole night.

Someone already mentioned the Blue Marlin bar, which is great fun. The same owner also has the Key Largo bar a block away. It has live bands, beautiful ladies and dancing.

I have been very fortunate and have met some great people in CR, and have had zero problems. I have heard many stories though of guys waking up and all their money being gone, or guys being pickpocketed walking the streets. So use some common sense, like making use of the hotel safes.

Like in the US I find if you treat the ladies really well it will come back to you manty times over. That said do not allow yourself to be taken advantage of, like anywhere there are plenty of people willing to do that.

Have fun, please feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

I'll be in San Jose for a day or two but mostly playing in the ocean in and around Tamarindo. Checking out land too.

I hear the chicks are hot. We'll see.

If they're anywhere near as hot as this one on the right in the video, I'm NEVER coming back!!!

living in a third-world country (or is Costa Rica considered second-world?) will keep you that skinny.

Sorry, BK...couldn't resist. :P  Have a great time.  I'm sure the local cabbies can tell you where to go.

starvin em makes em pliant..hehe!

Actually, CR is probably safetynet central so I'm sure someone was there to hand the girl a hotdog after her strenuous dance. Know what'll be a hoot? is if me and Sdstud end up neighbors...lol

If you see him there, say hi for me. :P

Go to the Blue Marlin Lounge located in the Hotel Del Rey, find yourself a companion for the reat of your trip, you may never come back.Btw the price for a companion for two or three days in Costa Rica, especially a Tica, is about the same as you would expect to pay for a dinner date in the states. Costa Rica is quite possibly the most wonderful place on the planet.Feel free to back channel me for more specifics.

A late friend of mine, was developing property there.  He would get in the first night, and try to find 2 girls to spend the week with.  Try as he might however, none of the girls seem to be into bisexuality.  The cost was about $250.00 to $300.00 per girl.

You may already be on your way but I'll post my two cents just in case!

The language barrier is pretty tough in CR, nobody speaks English.  Bring yourself a English to Spanish dictionary.

Make a cheat sheet for currency exchange. Their currency is kind of like the yen...25 bucks translates into thousand of CR Colons so you wind up doing a lot of math. Some places will try to rip you off if they notice that you are a foreigner that isn't adept with the currency.

The ladies down there have seen a big influx of American men with big American wallets. They often try to jack up prices or not be flexible in negotiations. Stay firm, kind of like buying a car where you shouldn't be afraid to walk away. When they realize your not an silly American with money to burn you'll have better luck price wise.

Don't stay at the Del Ray hotel. I've heard many stories of people getting ripped off by employees, finding their luggage missing or what have you. The bar is great for the lady action but you might look elsewhere for a roof over your head.

Have fun!!

Actually 25 bucks is about ten thousnd colons, the rate is about 400+ colons to the dollar. Resist the temptation to exchange your dollars at the airport, the last time I was there the airport exchange rate was 435 colons to the dollar, while the exchange rate at the Del Rey's casino was 455.

As far as the chicas go, stay with the native Ticas, they will treat you like a king where as the Dominican and Columbian chicas are more into it for the money. The first Tica I spent the night with, I had to almost force the money on her in the morning. What a country!!!
