So that people won't record the songs off the air and get to own them that way.

At least with XM, ASCAP figures they are getting something in exchange if people record from that.

Even on You Tube, you might notice that there is always some skip or glitch in any song you play from there now.

Could you imagine, in this day and age!
I was enjoying the intro to a rush song  
And the dj started taking, yapping away  
Nothing to say just shitting all over the beautiful music
I wanted to drive over to the station and beat him with my peg leg.
