Research involves verifying the pictures, the phone number, and other pertinent information about the provider. It is always a risk, as what we're doing is illegal, but if you do it right, the risks are minimal. One other thing you might do is join one or more of the verification sites. I would think this would all be easy pickings for LE. What you guys see, they can just as easily see. You could all be LE for all I know.
Flip side, does LE have the budget, time or desire to pursue hobbyists?
I have a great, stable life, but would love to pursue the hobby. Naturally, I don't want it to come crashing down on my personal life either.
Your response may be anywhere from, "Well, don't mess with a good thing if you're so scared" to "It's no big deal and a ton of fun...get the first time outta the way and you'll be fine."

im still new and paranoid about LE too, and i guess sticking to well reviewed providers and doing ur research is a given
but being the paranoid person i am, i even wonder if well reviewed providers "flipped", arrested and now is working for LE 
but from asking on ter, this situation is extemely rare

u dont have to do this but for my first time, once i did my research and read her reviews and booked and everything was good to go, i didnt jerk off for a day or two and on the day of the appointment i was ready to go, i guess it kinda numbed the paranoia a little for i was thinking of other things rather than LE lol

for the same reason that you'll never win the lottery: The law of averages.
LE just doesn't have the resources to do much more than go pluck the low hanging fruit. That means using decoys to get street walkers and their johns, and occasionally setting up a sting at a no-tell motel using BP as bait.
True, there have been reports over the years about some provider flipping and a few hobbyist who thought they were careful did get caught, but it is very rare. I can think of only a couple of cases in the last ten years, for example.
By all rights, I should have gotten busted years ago by LE. I started to hobby in the 1970s by responding to ads in the weekly entertainment papers. I must have seen a hundred different gals that way. Plus I was going to MPs left and right. Any of them were perfect set-ups for a bust, but the law of averages pulled me through without a scratch.
Now I am more careful because with sites like TER, it is so easy to be careful, and the gals I see are head and shoulders above the others on account of reviews.
So to sum up: Relax.
and do as much research on these boards as you can - both the fun/exciting stuff, and the cautionary stuff. I just had my first date, so I am in no way suggesting I have "the answer". However, getting comfortable and knowledgeable about warning signs and how to conduct myself was the best thing to calm me down in the heat of the moment. It can be done! Good luck

If the ladies you see are from these pages you have a better chance of being struck by lightening than busted by LE.
LE goes after "low hanging fruit". Respectively; LE needs cherry pickers and the Fire Department's Hook & Ladder truck to bust "johns" patronizing well reviewed TER advertisers.
You've gotten great advice from other experienced hobbyists. I'll just add that in your situation, where your trying to protect your personal world, you can't let your guard down even one time. Don't for example look at a back page add or an Eros add and, without further research, decide, she's physically gorgeous and you just have to go see her. It's too easy to want to get laid and simply set up the appointment. You can't make that mistake.
No one here is going to tell you that the first time is easy. It's not. You'll be nervous and scared beyond belief and you'll come up with a million reasons not to go through (An LE bust is among the reasons that will be swirling around in your big head). But if you want to partake in the hobby, you just have to get through that first session. I know, easier said than done. Trust your research and instincts. If you have covered everything, you'll be fine. Of course there are no guarantees, but that's life in general, not just in the hobby world.

You will avoid tons trouble and frankly time wasters and ROBS. Mr. Fisher was spot on
and you should be fine. Think with the big head and enjoy the fruits of life.
