Re:Traci Lords signing in NY

My first, only, and definitely last experience meeting her was the turn off from Hell. It was last year at DragonCon 2002 in ATL, where she was a celebrity guest. Okay, I'm a sci-fi geek/Trekkie in addition to a hobbyist.

Anyrate, Traci showed an hour late to the sutograph session, then charged $50 PER autograph - and not even signing her 'early work', "Traci, I Love You" video or otherwise. She gave a perfect fake smile while pics were taken, and had the personality of a primadonna.

My girlfriend at the time and I were eating at some 4 star Bistro inside the Hyatt Regency on Sat. night of the con. The Bistro was packed so we were sat in a wonderful section with an marine aquarium and were enjoying dinner with some other couples until... Traci and her entourage walk in.  I watched as she talked to the manager, who immediately came over with our server to ask if we would relocate as Traci desired the entire section.  I said "No thank you. We haven't even finished our appetizers."  The manager said "But Miss Lords requests that..."

I interrupted with "Forget Miss Lords. This morning I waited for over an hour and a half in a line to meet her. She can at least return the favor. Besides, What makes her so special? The fact that Miss Lords was once the biggest porn star in the world?" He blushed and responded "That is not the reason, but I see you I have upset you Sir. Pardon me for the interruption." "I shouldn't have been so rude to you Sir. Accept my apologies."  

Being a bistro, food was slow in coming out and being consumed.  The Bitch got to wait on all of us little people to finish our meals.  The next day at the con, as we drank at the bar of the same bistro, the server from Sat. night said that Traci had refused to tip b/c she had to wait then the manager reminded her of the manditory 18% tip on large parties.  Traci paid the straight 18%.  The server said that the others in our section like myself had tipped from 30-40% as was customary for the place.      

Do I care for Traci Lords? no.
Does she look good? God does she ever...
Will I pay to meet her again in person or hobbying? HELL NO She'll have to pay me....
