Ik denk dat het Engels is hun tweede taal.  

I think that English is their second language.  Or maybe 3rd or 4th.  After Dutch.

I also sometimes get some very strange replies to my problem reports or "contact" questions but nothing is super-urgent for me, so we eventually get things straightened out.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change my handle from current name to something else.  I've tried to contact TER support but those people are Absolutely 110% useless.  You ask them them a very specific question and the reply back has NOTHING to do with the question you asked.  2nd time that's happened to me.  Don't know if these people are simply illiterate or what.  Thx.

Maybe send them a list of new handles you want? In the order of preference you want. And then when you can't log in with your current handle,  that means it's time to use one of those new handle.  
I changed mine a few times before. They didn't send me an email about the change but through a pm,  which you cant check unless you're already logged in under new handle.  Lol

I changed mine buy it was shortly after I joined because it was too close to my email. I contacted support and just asked and told them my reason. I have always found support to be helpful.

SorRy you got bad responses from TER. They have ususlly been pretty responsive to all my questions. Although sometimes there have been some confusion and a topic may have taken a few back and forth feedbacks instead of just one. Not sure what the issue was, why you had two bad experiences in a row.

In any case, just click on the "contact us" button, or email [email protected] and say "I would like to change my username to xxxx." If the username you select isn't already used they should change it. Many people have changed their username (or "handle"). When they do change it, all your old posts and reviews will be assigned to the new name.

...I wasn't known by that handle because I never participated on the boards and hadn't seen anyone to review. When I decided to take part here I contacted admin. I probably used "contact us" though I'm not sure. I told them what I wanted to do. They instructed me to send them 3 handles I'd like to use. I sent them the 3 choices. They responded telling me which one they changed it to.

The contact us communication doesn't require VIP. I didn't have VIP at the time.

 
I hear you about their communications sometimes being confusing. It happens often. But rarely does the issue not get resolved. Be patient and keep at it.

I emailed support. had an instant auto reply. Sent reason for change. Asked if I retain VIP days, reviews etc... Sent three alternate new handles, was changed within the hour. I did this today. Retained everything. Only change is handle.
