What does it mean when a reviewers mailbox icon is not visible?
What discipline actions are taken when a review is found to be fake?

but maybe that's not always the case.

TER can decide what to do with a fake reviewer, from suspension to outright banning depending on the circumstances

but the answer is the same. A review attached to a handle without the yellow/gold/brown envelope next to it means the reviewer is reviewing under an alias.

Fake reviews are punishable by no punishment at all, save losing the 15 free VIP days, to as fishbro stated, suspension all the way to outright banishment, especially in the case of self reviewing or other outright review fraud.

I've always wondered why the envelope is missing sometimes.  It makes sense that it's because the review was done under an alias. But that's not always the case. I've seen cases where the review was done under a regular TER handle, not an alias, and the envelope doesn't show up on the review list. But if you look at that reviewer's posts, the envelope shows up, as does the link to his/her reviews.

I checked that just now to make sure I wasn't seeing things, and confirmed it.

Weird.

I have seen many alias reviews, but I haven't seen what you are talking about, where there is no envelope on the review but the same handle has an envelope on his posts.

ere is an example of what I'm talking about:
http://www.theeroticreview.com/reviews/show.asp?id=143324

paceyourself doesn't have a mailbox associated to his name.
Does that mean the review was submitted under an alias?   I did not know you could do so.

I recently saw a post recently by a provider I have visited and indeed the review was fake.  It wasn't a terrible review and the scoring was fine.  Out of my cat like curiosity I started
looking at reviews.  Sure enough his was fake, another provider had posted the same gent posted a fake review about her.  Same thing, scoring not bad and just a general review.   I guess he was trying to fly under the radar but got caught.  I first noticed his mail box was gone and then he was gone.

So here is another question: If a hobbyist deletes his account does his reviews get erased just like when a provider deactivates her account and the reviews disappear?  I've known a couple of provider who retired and damnit if they weren't some of my favorite reviews!!!!

Thanks for your help!!

I wish there was.  It never fails that when my VIP status lapses someone IMs me.  IN fact it just happened when my most recent VIP stint expired.  They are usually quite upset that I did not answer but hey I could not.

I have suggested a few times that there be some way of telling a VIP that his email will not (or cannot) be read.  Each time someone accuses me of trying to get emails without paying.   Mind you I am not asking for that.  i am saying the VIP should have some way of knowing who can and cannot read his message.

That alias may be inactive now. Reviews submitted under alias have been allowed sibce 2011.
Members can change their alias every 3 months.

... there's some reviews for that same provider that don't have yellow envelopes alongside the reviewer, but the reviewer isn't an alias.

As I said... weird.

a client delisting himself or whatever. Is that possible?
