The plan would only increases the tourney by two days? Is that correct?

Aren't they suppossed to decide by a certain time? Summer?

This was discussed on here a week or so ago. It looks like the proposed NCAA tournament expansion to 96 teams is going to happen. The NCAA board is going to discuss it more in depth during their next meeting on 21 April in Indianapolis. It's all about more TV money.

a decision by this summer. I wonder what this is going to mean for the other alphabet tourneys (NIT, CIT, CBI). Either they're going to go away, or the fields will be even more diluted.

Going from 64 to 96 will actually add just one round (which may translate into 1 or 2 days depending on scheduling) to the tourney.  There would be 24 teams per region, seeds 1-8 would get a bye into the second round.  How they will do the scheduling will be interesting....will the first weekend be Thursday, Friday, Sunday --or-- Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday --or-- Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday....etc, because going to 96 upsets the scheduling part a little.

I thought I had heard if they do go to 96....the NIT was history.  Since the NIT has 32 teams now, that makes sense, not that it is a good idea.

This will add additional play-in games similar to the game that has been held in Dayton when the Tourney went from 64 to 65 teams.  Seems like more games on Tuesday with winners advancing to play on either Thursday or Friday with each day still having 16 games.

Side bar:  More money for Vegas.  Will office pools include these games or wait until the 1st and 2nd rounds (or do we call it 2nd & 3rd rounds) begin?

a day earlier than right now, the winners of day 1 play the next day versus seeds 1-8 in the region.

Your bracket picks will need to be in a day earlier and you will have an extra 32 decisions to make.

How much money do those bastards need and...where's all that money going? I think it's time to give the kids a stipend of some sort.
