I somehow missed the living with a lover stage...    I'm sad about that now.

Dear Shuda,

Regret it not for long.  It is portrayed well in movies, but reality bites hard in the real world.  Better that you should have had, or have, a lover.  No need to live with this person, perhaps even better.  Lovers don't mind distances in time or place.  A real being, a lover,  that has stepped off a pedestal becuase of 24/7 can bring crashing dismay to a relationship.

That said, I am certain real, true lovers, have been swept to sea by waves, perhaps without regret.

it isn't the crazzy things we did that we regret; rather it's the things we didn't do that we dwell on.  You only get one life to live....I want to make that enough.

when you reach 60 you enter the WOULDA..COULDA..SHOULDA  phase of life..you think about what might have been and what you missed..i would not change a thing..the only regret i have is not starting sooner in the hobby..to think of all those beautiful women i will never meet..the ones i have met take all the regrets away..

Indeed woulda, coulda, shoulda...  unfortunately I'm aflicted with selective amnesia.   I acted from honesty on the best information available to be at the time.  You all don't want to know the blow by blow (or not!)  LOL!  It's nice to know I'm not alone in this.

I think I'll go back dreaming of woulda!

Unless, of course you are currently married :-)  But, in general I recommend concentrating on what you have experienced and have enjoyed, rather than what you haven't.  I have enjoyed great passion and endured great pain through several live-in, long distance, and long and short term relationships, two marriages, and numerous casual encounters!  They all offered something wonderful to keep in my memory banks.  Don't waste time being sad about what didn't work, or what you didn't have.  Life is too short, especially now!

As a single man, I had a number of flings...  then a broken engagement, a disasterous first marriage...     (I think) I was always reaching for the living with a lover goal but missed repeatedly.
Including currently...  I am remarried to someone who avoids intimacy in all it's forms.   During the courtship phase she was more willing...  so I missed her take-it-or-leave-it-hints which were there.  Big mistake.  Within a year, sex had become once a year holiday trip.  I've tried talking about it...  but she just becomes better at avoidance.

The hobby provides sex...  but does not quite fill the need...
