don't go any farther than a month out .. at 3 weeks start to narrow your list down and get firm commitments ... at 2 you should have a good rapport built up, at 1  week send a reminder, then call the day before your meeting with all the info they will need on where your staying etc.  As quzi said always keep your mails and calls short and to the point, they get tons of mail and calls .... hobby safe hobby well hobby all you can be ...

Hello gang.....I'll be making another trip to Vegas in the first week of June.  I know I am way too early to make an appointment now, but how early CAN I make an appointment with the typical Vegas Indie?  Ladies??

Thanks,
Injun Joe

Some will take it in advance and keep the appointment.  Others are sorta shortsighted and take appointments only a week or three in advance.  At the very least, get in touch with the ones you want to see and make a suggestion as to date/time/length and finalize them a few weeks in advance.

As some have said, the good ones tend to get lots of emails so it's best not to keep in touch with them except when necessary.  Keep your email requests short and to the point.  If they need more information, like references/verification info, make sure you provide that (and for those that require it, it helps to get it out of the way early on).

Have fun,
 Bob

It wouldn't hurt to contact your choices right now.Give them a call as well as an email.I've found that when you call (or meet) a provider for the first time, they may be "nervous" (for an obvious reason)So if you give them a couple e-mails,and a couple calls, they feel more comfortable. Right now,I'd like to put in a plug for Brie Michaels, who was the first provider I ever met.She took a chance, because I had no references, she told me later, she had the instinct I was "okay".I can see where a lady has to be cautious.

Hello. I can give you my opinion only. I stopped taking reservations over thirty days in advance. I found that the farther ahead they booked, the chances of a no call/no show
or cancellation dramatically increased. So I accept reservations thirty days to 2 hours notice, and have significally fewer duds.
