...It's explaining where the link is to a newbie. I'm one that tells them about it being on the My TER page and on the upper right of the message boards. Tellng them it's in the site map would be much easier. Regardless they should be listed in the site map because it's the site map.

...be added to the site map. I can't fathom why they aren't included there. They are a part of the site are they not? Telling newbies to find the Self-Help Center link on the site map would be much easier than what we have to do now.

What do you say Admin?

go to the TER homepage (My TER) and click self-help center on the left-hand side

where the hell are those located?  They're hidden inside a lifesaver ring whose use is blatantly obvious (sarcasm font) to all the newbies.  Back when I joined it was a hell of time finding it as I was looking for an FAQ link.

And once you get inside the Self Help section (TER's Instruction Manual) there is no Acronym page, but instead:
Definitions, Acronyms, Abbreviations, and Terms (A-M)
Definitions, Acronyms, Abbreviations, and Terms (N-Z)
   Some more Acronyms

On top of that, there is no Newbie Manual to be found, instead there is:
   Newbie Tips
   The Newbie Primer
Which are located halfway down the page.

Common names across all sections would help, or at least narrow down what someone is looking for - kinda like someone telling you to go see Janet, she's great but also goes by Jane, and Jennifer, and Jasmine....

...It's simply posts by moderators (back when they were board members) and helpful members from TER's beginning to now. I think the "Newbie Manual" is a hold over name from previous versions. I always call it the Self-Help Center which is correct in this version. I've given such specific instructions about where to find it that my kindle now gives it to me word for word whenever I start to type it.

Wouldn't it make sense to put everything in the site map? Then at least telling folks where to find it would be easy and many would find it simply because the site map is where one looks to find things on a site.

I have criticized TER for having the White List FAQ's hidden in a link to Info for Providers in the Self-Help Center. However there is a link to them in the site map.

and I often cite that as well as Self-Help just in case they stumble upon the Classic TER.

The shc is often referred to as the Newbie Manual, I used to to it myself.  I stopped when I realized that it was probably confusing to people who would look for the Newbie Manual, and not be able to find it under that title.
