I definitely want to be able to get rewarded for my stays, so I will look into a few options.  Thanks again for taking your time to reply.

.....ladies, feel free to chime in, as well.

I will doing a bit more traveling during the New Year, and have a few questions about hotels.  I am posting on this board, because the gentlemen here, are similar to my clientele, and tend to look for more than wham, bam, thank you ma'am.

Usually when I tour a bigger city, such as Boston, Chicago, Philly, etc, I always stay in a four or five star hotel.  I like the security, gym/spa, room service, etc.

My question is, when you visit a smaller city, and stay in the burbs, which hotels are best.  I would never stay at a Days Inn, or similar, but what are some of the better chains, that have suites available.  I looked on Hotels.com, and there are so many to choose from!  Help!  Gentlemen, your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

   Thank you for your help.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

I have been a Marriott Platinum member for years and I love the perks
But I also love finding the hidden gems

(PM for names of these hotels)

I also love the site VRBO
Happy Holidays, Beauty!

Some 2 1/2 star places are sometimes OK.  Even the cheaper Marriott places like Town Suites, while small, are clean and the clientele not too scuzzy, generally.

is pretty consistent, Hilton is good, personally, I like to stay at Best Western.. Best Western now ranks their member properties and if you stick to the "Plus" brand you're gonna be good 98% of the time.

the reason I like them is it's not a chain, as Mr Gump said it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get... every property is unique and there are some real 4 star gems hiding out there...

as for traveling, come west, young lady, come west... the intermountain west needs you.. :)

if you are going to be in an area more than a week, look for a nice extended stay, which is basically a studio apartment.  more than the name, is the motel easy to find and get to.  can you access the parking lot from the back?

Is as you know part of the Hilton group and are excellent with their suite set up and you can use and accumulate Hilton Honors awards!

You can see the doors of the rooms from the common area below
Otherwise the rooms are nice but I like my privacy.
Residence Inns by Marriott are awesome and many of them have lofts
It is almost like having your own condo
:)

.... it's being on the inside look out still inside.  Freaky (not in a good way) lol  Even in a more corner type of room I still feel like i'm being watched especially during housekeeping hrs like 9am to 3pm *shrugs*

I definitely want to be able to get rewarded for my stays, so I will look into a few options.  Thanks again for taking your time to reply.

Priceline or Expedia. I travel a lot for business and can usually find great deals for really nice hotels. Good luck Kelly. It is really nice to see you on this board!

Here in the SFV many of The Best Westerns have outside entrances, which both the ladies and gents seem to appreciate. Also, I know ladies who as regular guests get a corporate rate. eom
