The purpose of this post is basically just to introduce myself...
It all started quite some time ago when a friend directed me to a website which chronicled a young woman's experiences working at a porn shop. I became addicted and discovered that I am very interested in the daily experiences of people who have interesting, off the wall jobs.
From there, I stumbled across a similar website set up by a Las Vegas cocktails waitress. Sort of like reading a newspaper column, or watching episodes of a sitcom, I began visiting on a regular basis to read the newest, funny thing that had happened to the sites owner.
Then one day I started looking for any other websites which featured people with unusual jobs. What I discovered, was TER. This was the ultimate website, because it had not one contributor, but, potentially, hundreds! Since then, I've read with interest the posts of people who I know must be just like people I encounter each day, but yet are somehow "different" because of their particular career or "hobby" as you guys call it! (yes while I've been here I have picked up a lot of the lingo as well)
I work from home, and in downtime I kill time on the net, sometimes here at TER. It's really fascinating to read what seem to be brutally honest opinions of sex, women, relationships, etc, all from various viewpoints. I have found myself wondering many times where you guys find these crazy "civvies." And ladies, you have more guts than I, for sure!
After a time, I began to think that, while the owners of the other websites were specifically putting the site up to be viewed for entertainment by anyone who wishes to see, TER is specifically set up for participants in the "hobby." So, as time passed, I started to feel a bit like an unwelcome voyeur. There were times when I would have and could have contributed, but I have held back for the most part because I don't feel that my input is particularly relevant, being neither a provider nor a hobbiest. But I can honestly say, that in the land of the internet, it is so rare to find actual intelligent conversation and true sharing of feelings and ideas, and that alone would be enough to keep me coming back.
Anyway, hello, I'm here quietly reading along, and if anyone gives a shit, I'll throw my 2 cents in every now and then. Also, I have nothing to hide and I will gladly answer enough questions to satisfy anyone that I am not here for any ill will or dishonest intent.
So now why don't you pick a lady and have some fun? Then you can contribute a review and really feel like you're a part of TER.
I would like to think we all qualify as human beings first,before the tags are attached.I,myself,have not been around here very long,but realize there are a lot of interesting and nice humans congregated here abouts most days.I extend my welcome to you;hope you enjoy yourself!

Open forums are just that. While you may not activly participate in one-on-one fun in our community that doesn't mean that you cannot be a member! There are many individuals I've had great conversations with here whom I will likely never meet. I look forward to your contributions!

Hey, wait a minute here... Don't I get a say in this?
This is a wide open area, where we discuss a wide range of sujects. I'm sure you'll find your input is just as welcome as any of us. Feel free to jump in any time.
I would think anyone with an open mind like you would have plenty to contribute to the boards....I would like to believe that the board is more then just about the hobby but an open form where everyone is welcome....it's just that we all think about s%$ alot
If you aren't, you should really become one to get the real TER experience, not only from reading reviews and such, but from being able to PM people. Given your lack of reviews, you might find that those who don't shun you will be limited in what they share with you, but I am sure it would be educational, nonetheless.
New voices that are open minded and aren't working for "the establishment" (am I dating myself?) are always welcome here. Some may not agree with me, but I myself like the idea of civvies on the the board...new blood. Just remember that this is all for entertainment purposes, okay?

Thanks for the welcome. I've been suitably entertained to return so far without benefit of being a VIP member, and Im not sure that I could really justify the expense anyhow. Being a female, and not bisexually inclined, it pretty unlikely that I will ever accumulate reviews, so shunners, feel free to shun. As far as PM goes, Ill be happy to provide an email address if anyone wanted to contact me privately. For my purposes, I don't think Ill need the ability to PM from within the site.

(PS, I thought my handle would give me away as female, since I have only seen females referred to as civvies. But, I guess there are "civvie" guys too)
(PPS is getting a VIP membership the only way to escape having to have each message approved before it becomes visible?)

If you post regularly and responsibly, you will eventually become "unmoderated," and your posts will be posted immediately.
That is the route that I choose early on, although recently, I have been working off my free days. Since you are a civvy and will not be accumulating free days, the $50 would be well spent, at least once. Then you can send and receive PMs. Also, you can read ALL of a review.

I'm in much the same position as you, having found the board almost by accident, enjoyed the imput and I've lingered ever since. I am in total agreement. I also enjoy the repartee, the discussions and many of the characters who come along here. It is a bit voyeuristic to lurk this way, but I've managed to develop good friendships along the way as well.
I bought VIP membership in order to support the board, and give something back. If you've not already done the same, you might consider it, even if only as a temporary measure. As someone else said, it's also useful because you can read any PMs which come your way, and communicate with others.
Ah, and that's quite a brave handle you have there!
