saw them. any other suggestions, maybe giants in there prime, i think steelers were better becasue of there 4 superbowls.

1991 Eagles
1976 Steelers
1971 Vikings

And my favorite

87 Saints, especially the inebacker corps.  Pat Swilling, Vaughan Johnson, Sam Mills, Rickey Jackson dominated the games.  Offense sucked out loud but the D was great

Started the season 1-4. Won 9 in a row after that. In those 9 games, gave up only 28 points, with 5 shutouts, including 3 in a row. Destroyed the Colts in the playoffs, but lost Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier to injury and ended up losing to the Raiders the next week with both starting RBs.

Every interview I have read or heard with a former Steeler, they all say that defense was their best. If you break down the defense into the 3 untis (D-Line, LB, secondary) they have at least one hall-of-famer in each unit, with LB having 2. Two players who have been finalists for the HOF are L.C. Greenwood and Donnie Shell, who if they ever get elected, with give them 6 from the defense, with 2 in each of the 3 untis I mentioned above.

they probably had to be the best defense since they di it for so long, the bears were dominant only for 1 year, giants were good but not at that level. bills game was mainly thanks to norwood miss and the ball control of parcells,
