I'm with you on this one.  I've worked in ERs and hospitals.  No competent physician would rule out gallstones based on a CT.  An ultrasound is the test of choice.

If you didn't get an abdominal US, I'd think twice about going back to that particular ER.  They obviously don't know what they are doing.

Growing abdominal pains over the last month.  They've become worse tonight.  From other symptoms, I'm guessing surgery may be called for.  :-(

I'll have to cut my New Years Postings short, and put a few off till afterward... I should have some time to post then...

First Happy New Year & Thank You everyone for making 2004 a great year for me.

But I must thank especially the women I've met, who've made it my greatest year, have let me be assured that coming years will get better.  In the order that I saw you and love: Topanga, Netmichelle, Nikki, Nicole, Ciara and Candy.  May your lives always get better too.  I especially thank you both, Nicole and NetMichelle for their  collaberation and more.  Michelle, honey, good luck on your gypsy lifestyle.

Greatest single moment: a very deep DT from Michelle in June.  But so many other times were so close...

Biggest disappointment: I'm afraid Bush's victory qualifies, but Sedona's retirement is second... (Where ever you are, love, Happy New Year.)

My New Year's Resolution: get a new, better paying career as a writer/novelist.

My actual wish: treble my income, pay off my debt, and see all of my favorites regularly, and add a few others to my list.

Most embarrassing moment: yes, it was a doosie.  Nothing comes close to the time It was fifteen minutes before that I gave my date the wrong room number.  :-O Luckily she was still reachable at the number I called from...but still, calling up to admit that...

A lot of other things to say... they got to wait, now...  :-(

Hey trust me I know all about pain and surgery this last year hope everything is okay.  Will miss your posts and advise. God Bless

I hope that things will be "standard procedure" for you and that you will be your feisty self again soon.  Please keep us posted.

Thanks for the laugh about having a better paying career as a writer/novelest. :)

Here's to 2005.

Back already.  Good news, it wasn't a gallstone(s), as I feared it had to be, and now I'm on muscle relaxants, painkillers and anti-nauseas.  CAT scan and blood work, everything came up normal...

So, now I'm seeing my doctor on Monday, an gastroenterologist soon after that, an internist, a chiropractor... and then a psychiatrist.

Somewhere at my health insurance company there's an account manager tearing out his hair.

That's what the insurance is for.  If they gripe because you actually have the audacity to file any claims, they have no business offering the insurance in the first place.

Hi Zin,

LOL!!!!! Stay healthy!!!!!! :o)

I suggest you lose all those medicines and Doctors and...

have yourself a couple of GG martinis, a split of Champers, and
kick back and smoke a J...lol

...and not necessarily in that order.

feel better!

Cheers!

But the CAT scan is not ideal for gallstones.  If the stones are not calcified, the CAT scan won't pick it up.  You need an ultrasound which would be much more accurate for stones.  Let your GI doc know that's what you want.

PM me if you have any questions.

Happy 2005.

Have heard similar things from someone who had stones.

Also, please take advantage of all you can get out of your medical insurance...for those of us without. :)

Keep us posted, bud.

Everything you say is correct BUT just because Z thought he had gallstones doesn't mean his symptoms and physical exam pointed to gallstones.  If they did then I'm certain his MDs would have ordered an ultrasound.  Maybe he did get an ultrasound but didn't list it in the post.

It sounds like his doctors were ruling other things out.

I agree. Go with the ultrasound! Better diagnostics, more definitive!

I'm glad it was nothing serious. Here is to a happy and HEALTHY New Year for you! Please keep care of yourself:)
