I never saw Wilt or Oscar or Maravich play in college (I do remember Maravich sitting on the end of the Celtics bench in 1980).

Personally, I think Bias was better than Magic and Bird (and for that matter Jordan) in college, but great minds will be disagree! Certainly on a Pro level, all three are top 10 of all time.

I sure remember the run LMU had in the tourney.

Yes. I remember him vividly. LMU went on a scoring binge that hadn't been seen before then, and hasn't been seen since. Gaithers' situation was as tragic as that of Len Bias, but for different reason. Two young lives snuffed out.

I'm not old enough to remember Kareem or Walton or even David Thompson in college. But to this day, Len Bias is the best college player I've ever seen. Nothing he couldnt do on the court. What a tragedy that he ran with the wrong crowd off the court.

Hank Gather's death was beyond tragic and sad. I remember watching his teammate Bo Kimbel shooting free throws left handed to honor Hank...Great run in the tourney before loosing to UNLV in the elite 8!

He was good, no question.  But IN COLLEGE, Bird, Magic, Chamberlain, Oscar and Maravich were considerably better, IMHO.
