It can be argued he is no longer a US citizen since he has taken the side of the enemy .

Being that its out in the open how is it we can authorize a hit on a citizen not allowing them due process?

It's really that simple.

It is pure out and out assassination.

They have set up the legal frameworks and fictions to allow someone designated as a "terrorist" to be assassinated under certain circumstances.

Just remember that the Fusion Centers have a VERY broad definition of what constitutes a terrorist.

We are closer than many think to the USSR.

... whose job was dealing with narco-terrorists in South America; I admit it would be AWFULLY CONVENIENT for me to support this sort of activity as it would also justify my own past behavior.

HOWEVER, while I am not old, I am older than I was. And, I hope, a bit wiser in understanding NOT just the desires of the moment; but the long-term consequences of the frameworks and justifications. Ultimately, the theories that can be used to justify killing one person on the basis of terminology can and WILL be used to justify killing another.

I do not want the executive branch of my government standing as judge and jury, and indirectly sending off some deluded mercenary bastard like me to act as executioner while maintaining plausible deniability. This is the SAME executive branch that brought us to war over nonexistent WMDs. Yes? If they can get THAT wrong, you can bet your ass that innocent people die in the process of this kind of stuff.

Just say "no" to assassinations or one of these days someone you know and love will be snuffed out as an enemy of the state because of his ideas or noncompliance with orthodoxy.

That only a minority understand the snowball affect of precedence. Good on ya John!

I'm trollin' for some hyperbole.

explained to Congress that the President can crush a child's testicles if it will make us safer.

So what's the problem with a targeted assassination if it will make us safer? At least this guy is an adult and is a "suspected terrorist."

I don't have a problem with assassination.

I have a problem with supposed legal authority assumed by one branch of government establishing a precedent with which to murder U.S. citizens.

But....I think only a citizen can voluntarily revoke that status. Gov can't do it....???
