Why does everyone use novi?
I would use providers far more often if they would consider staying at downtown hotels.
Novi is a hassle to get too and I've spoken to other hobbyists who think so as well.
I think there is s largely untapped market for providers if they start considering Detroit or the other side of Detroit as a the hosting location.
Detroit is still very much portrayed as a dangerous, slum like place on the national media. That alone would deter most visiting providers from hosting downtown. As for the other issue, it is a logistical nightmare. I only know of one (not particularly nice) hotel that doesn't require keycards downtown. Some of the keycard only hotels also have security guards blocking the entrance to the elevators during certain times. On top of that, unless it is a casino hotel, you have to pay for parking. Other hotels have no choice in terms of parking, you must valet. For a gentleman in a hurry, that may not be a convenient option.
Some ladies might consider hosting downtown for an extended appointment. However, if you are only looking for touring ladies, it's unlikely they will host there because of the aforementioned issues.

I can't recommend DT, for the reasons Ms. Emma stated.
I would suggest Southfield or Troy/Auburn Hills. The former is convenient to all areas, the latter has excellent demographics.
The agencies that travel here seem to really like Novi.. which really is a pain if you're not already towards that area. The mid to high range independent visitors that come here that i've seen tend to do Southfield or Troy.
But I did see a provider that stayed at the Crown Plaza right next to Cobo and it didnt require a card to go up the elevators. The room was nice. She was from the UK and I dont think she did a ton of research before coming over. It was nice to not have to do a 45 minute trek to Novi to see a decent provider. I visited during the weekend so parking wasn't an issue.
I will say reading this thread did make me understand a little better why some do not visit the city(proper) itself, that I hadn't thought about. While Detroit (proper) is a depressed city Detroit (metro) is still the 13th largest metro area in the US. Sometimes I'll look on E*** at other cities and compare to Detroit and we seemed to be undeserved in comparison.
I had some great experiences at the Westin at the airport... it's also been a turn-on to see local women at the casinos in pics at the towers... I'd personally do both.
I think though that anyone looking for as little more volume that the porn stars that no longer visit us, probably just do better that way. Not sure exactly. I've had great appointments Southfield, Troy, downtown, but honestly the last 10 years if I did an outcall with a visitor it was probably Novi.
Not bizarre if you look at the ad board and see the places people actually stay. But, sure, I'd love a different experience too... especially if they were into pics or film, those high-rise dates can be visual and fun 
Even that place in Southfield that's shut down now right off the highway I remember some great dates at back in the day.
