_with_ the grain, be sure to use shaving gel or cream, but only after you trim the long stuff down to about 1/8" using scissors.

Pat dry do not rub dry then use a non fragranced lotion, again pat it in gently, with the grain.  DO not use triple blades a double blade with be fine, try the women's venus or even better, the "personal touch" brand

I believe this was discussed in an earlier thread.  I recall someone mentioning that she uses hair conditioner to avoid bumps.

Even waxing leads to bumps as the hair grows.  A bump free hairline requires lost of vigorous scrubbing with a loofah or nailbrush, though how one appplies this technique to the testicles is something I don't even want to think about.

Sometimes tea tree oil can help.  At the very least, it will help stop the bumps from being infected with Strep (barbers' rash) a common occurence.

If I was you, I would switch to a close scissor trim.  Easier maintenace, just as nice for the ladies, and no bumps.

Emma's reply is right on, close trimming is just as good.  I experienced this as well when I first started trimming.  It really has to do with the curly hair turning and becoming ingrown.  This has been remedied for me by shaving every single day.......no problems at all since then.

Along with that same line of thought, I use and suggest clippers(a small beard/mustache trimmer). No scissors or blades come in contact with the sensitive parts that way; use the lowest setting or shortest attachment to get similar results, and it's just as enjoyable to both of you.

I've been shaving for years and got this tip in an article by Christie Brinkley!  After shaving, soap up a loofah or a washcloth and rub it in a circular motion over the shaved area. Shave downward in the direction of hair growth..not against it. You will never get any bumps.  Just be sure you get the entire area.  Doesn't have to be too vigorous or rough.  I can only speak for myself, but if you are a man just trimming it very short would be better than shaving.  We can feel the stubble:)

This is a miracle worker, totally clears up the bumps.  I use it and I love it. You can also buy it online at Sephora.com

When I tried shaving with a blade down there it created lots of unsightly bumps. In addition, the most current literature in hospitals advocates NOT shaving areas with a blade prior to surgery.  Instead, the recommendation is to use an electric shaver.  Reason: shaved skin with a blade creates micro-abrasions in the skin and decreases it's ability to keep bacteria out.

Multiple reasons to use this little goody.

Hair conditioner is the best. I use it. I read it in a book called 911 beauty secrets for women  written by Judith Light. I tried it before because it says that you will get a smooth shave without razor bumps, and it works I  have been doing this since I was fourteen when I read the book .

trim close everywhere with beard trimmers; tweeze the shaft & base.

pros - smooth as silk, no bumps, no as irritating to the skin like waxing can be nor as painful, doesn't grow back for 2-3 weeks, don't have annoying stubble which looks stupid and can irritate the woman.

cons - hurts like a bitch, tedious, takes a bunch of time every two-three weeks, like waxing - gotta let the hair grow back to a 'tweezable' length

stop shaving and taking the easy way out.  take the same amount of care a woman does.  i'm sure most of you expect her to be as smooth as a baby's ass.  DATY with a gal that has 5o'clock shadow is not that fun so think about her feeling like she's doing a porcupine - certainly not that fun for her either.  remember this when trimming around the base of your shaft ...don't trim too close.
