I like it. The Pledge of Allegiance part anyway. From my favorite comedian.

I thought everything Red did was suppose to be funny. But, you're right! I like it too. :)

Red Skelton was a stand up guy. Loved his show, and the whole family could watch it.

Back when Red spoke those words, they were good sentiments; but today a few things have changed.

One is his statement that our flag is respected everywhere it waves.  I'm afraid these days it's disrespected more than it is respected.

And "one nation, indivisible" sadly no longer fits.  There are factions in this country with an "us or them" mentality that has divided this country and continues to divide it.

Also, curiously, he left out One nation, UNDER GOD... I assume omitted at the insistance of CBS censors, which suprises me, since he closed every one of his shows with "May God bless"...

I truly wish that video was as true today as it was when it was first broadcast.

eddie, you didn't watch it to the end, did you? The pledge he gave was in place when he was in the 7th grade....long before his 1969 show. At the end of his monologue, he mentioned that 2 states, and 2 words had been added since the principal had spoken to his class. Alaska, and Hawaii, and "under God". Back in 1969, mentioning God on TV was not verboten.
