I went to TJ once and picked up a Shemale at a club that I believe was located upstairs from the Bambi. It was a good experience. I haven't been to TJ in 5-6 years though. Any comments or recommendations would be appreciated
I got robbed and strangled right around that area on Revolution with the cops watching. I'm cured on going to TJ.
Bummer LatsDog. Your story isn't the first horror story i've heard. I've really never had anything but minor problems down there, Many years ago probably more than 20, I had a muni cop following me around. I don't know why he was following me. I figured I better get out of Mexico and did. Other than that scare and the locals trying to somehow hustle money, no other problems down there.
Prior to that event, I had been over to TJ a zillion times with no problems. I have also been to border towns in Texas. Border towns can be fun for sure! Bambi's has been gone for a long time but I'm sure there are new bars. If you are really brave, head over by Adelitas in the zone and walk down the street a few blocks and up the hill. The TS scene is thick but so are the cops and so are the thugs.
When I got robbed, I was not alone, but ventured out to get money at the ATM. If you go, my advice to you or anyone is go with a friend or do not go at all.

There are better/safer options in LA. TJ used to be fun and relatively safe but no more. As others have said the police are no source for help.
A Mex guy I chatted with in SoCal told me kidnappings are numerous in the interior. It happened to his friend.
And he said ... for about $300 (in pesos) you can rent a federale's uniform, badge, weapon and vehicle for a full day and rip off all the travelling North Americanos you can pull over and apprehend.
That sounds like a great idea. Pull them over prior to getting in line at the border and take all their cash 
To hear before you can get that same "experience". An experience you can get right here in the states. Why go to TJ for that? As you can see from here,if your not there for BUSINESS,but your looking for fun,and you can't handle yourself,"getting chocked out with your buddy's standing by with L E watching"or going to an ATM. No one goes to an ATM in TJ,everything's so cheap there. Rest assured the native are watching your D ass. Can't speak fluent Spanish.Looking scared.Hanging around areas Tgirls patronize? Even twenty years ago I would not have driven my own vehicle to TJ. Regardless, it is worse now and its pretty much like that in all border towns. If you want something different fly to Europe or give Montreal or Toronto a go.
